Do any of you think your house is haunted? What makes you think so? Tis the season!

My house isn't. I do believe that my in-laws old place that we own is. A lot of times I get cold feelings when I am over there alone working and have the feeling that someone is watching me. Other times everything is normal. My daughter thinks thatt the place is haunted also. My Father-in -law and his mother both passed away there. Who knows who else may be still haunting there since the house was built in 1735-1750's.

Sometimes my wife says that I have bats in my belfry. Does that count? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Not mine but my aunt's seems to be.
About 15 years ago:
My aunt (part time artist) felt compelled to draw a picture of a face that she was seeing in her head. She drew it then just stashed it away.
Later that year, my cousin saw a ghost in the house.
About 2 years later, my cousin found the picture my aunt drew and immediately recognized it as the ghost she saw.

Separate incident: My aunt put some of those electric candles in the windows one day. That night she heard a bunch of noise downstairs. Went down to investigate. Every one of the candles was knocked off the windowsills. Guess the ghost thought she was trying to burn the place down.

There were other incidents but don't recall them.

Personally, I've never seen a ghost (nor UFO) but... if pressed for a yes/no answer on whether they exist, I'd say yes. I'm too small of an entity in this universe to question what's out there and what's not.

My current house isn't but a house I lived in college sure as heck most certainly was!!! It was an old farm house on 300 acres out in the middle of nowhere on a long lane with big oak trees. It was a two story. At first everything was ok. But then I would hear noises upstairs. It was a big old house and I never had any reason to use the upstairs as it was just three big bedrooms. The bathroom and my bedroom were all downstairs. There was a door into the kitchen that lead to the upstairs. Usually that door was closed. But every morning I would come in and the door would be open. Then I got a lock and put on it in the winter so I didn't have to heat the upstairs. About once a week the lock would be undone and the door would be opened! If you went upstairs the hair on the back of my neck would literally stand straight up. My brother and his kids came out to visit one time and his kids were playing upstairs and left some toys. I put them in the closet upstairs and didn't think about them. One night I heard alot of little noises like a mouse would make in the walls. The next day I was upstairs and the toys were out in the middle of the room. I put them back and the next day they were back in the middle of the room. I asked the guy that owned the house if there was ever anything that happened there. He said no he didn't know of anything. Well things like this kept going on. Nothing bad but you knew something was not right. I didn't want to leave as the rent was only $300/month and I also had the two barns and about 70 acres in pasture that I kept my horses and some cattle on to practice roping. So I put up with it for four years.

When it came time to move out the guy finally told me the truth about the house!! He didn't want to tell me before because he was afraid I would move out and he liked having me there. I kept the place up and he liked to come over and rope with me. The story was there had been four different people die in the house and one was a little girl that had died there about 50 years ago. It was one of his grandparents kids that was four years old and had died of pneumonia. Another guy that was a renter had a heart attack and died in the house. His grandmother had passed in the house and another relative that had rented it after the grandparents passed. ALL had died upstairs. Still gives me chills to think about it. But at the time I was 23 years old and things like that didn't bother me. Today I would have left in a month. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Our house is 200 years old and was in the same family until we bought it in 2000. Over the years, several folks have died here. While we were touring the house, we asked the owner if it was haunted. He said no. We haven't had any strange happenings and there are no noises other than the squirrels wintering in the walls. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Yea today I'm a soft old family guy. Today I would have left that house in a minute too!!! Back then I was a heck raising adrenaline junkie. Rode bulls, rodeoed hard, broke every hardcase horse around for school money, and went to school 40 hours a week. Never slept and when I did I was too tired to care about the ghosts. Also money was not very plentiful back then and at $300/month for a house, barns, and 70 acres of pasture those ghosts would have had to carried me out of that house to leave. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Richard, we never had all the strange things you did, but when we moved to Texas just before I turned 17, Dad bought a big old two story house in Plano. At night we frequently heard what sounded like someone walking up in the attic. Of course, we considered the possibility of squirrels or other rodents, but the sound was too heavy and too measured for that. We also checked to make sure no limbs on the trees could touch the house, and those sounds happened whether the wind was blowing or not. We never did find any reason for the sounds, but nothing was every bothered.
