Is your house haunted?

Coach,

For some reason this one never happened to me but the last year I was there was when I started dating my now wife. Whenever she was there and wanted to go upstairs the door would rarely open. It was as if it was completely stuck. As soon as she would walk away it would open. I am not making that up either. She is right here and I asked her what else about that house had spooked her.

The other thing was I had a Rottweiller. I bought him as a Christmas present for my then girlfriend, now wife. When I was gone to rodeos she would come out and do the chores and study. After a few of those spooky things happened she would not stay there unless I was there. Once I got the dog she felt safer. BUT that dog would not go upstairs. He would just stay at the bottom and bark and bark if you went upstairs. Downstairs he never did much. I kept him in the house at night and there were times that he would sit up and growl and the hair would stand up on his neck. He was always looking upstairs. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Cowboydoc,

<shiver> If the dog was sensing something then there was something there. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif </shiver>

Its one thing to think it was just me being goofy but if the dog goes off..... I have had the times when the little man on my shoulder said, "Beware." was well as the hair stand up on my neck. I listened to these things..... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Don't understand 'em but I listen.....

Later,
Dan

We lived in a house in Senatobia, Ms from my junior high through high school years. We used to hear heavy footsteps, and dragging kinds of noises in the attic. My mom swears she was awakened in the middle of the night by a kiss on her cheek, and when she looked around there was a man standing next to her bed that turned and dissolved away. She swears it was not a dream, and that it scared her so bad she had to get up and turn the lights on throughout the house. If it had been my step dad who'd seen it, I'd have been inclined to think it might have been Bud Wieser he'd seen /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif But my mom never touched a drop.
I never tried to verify it, but we had been told by neighbors that an uncle of some former residents had killed himself in the bathroom in the rear of the house. It may have been because of it's location at the rear corner with two outside walls, but that bathroom always was the coldest room in the house, and I always got the willys when I had to use it. This could have been just the power of suggestion from the stories I guess, but it was still erie and gave me goose bumps.

I grew up in an old house, and my wife and I are on our second (and final) old house now. This one appears to be from about 1835. I've never felt them to be spooky, quite the contrary, I always find it comforting. Sure people died there, that's why they called the formal room the parlor, cause that's where they held the funeral. But people also lived there too, and I always thought of that - no matter how bad things might seem to be at a given time, those other people had their trials and tribulations, and they managed to find their way through. Maybe some of what they learned is still there somewhere! The more I know about the people who lived there, the better I like it.

Also, we did some serious restoration work on the last place we were at, trying to return it back to what it was. There were few secrets left after replacing windows, roofs, rebuilding floors, etc. And I like to think that if there were any ghosts, they liked what we were doing!

I do not live in a haunted house but just recently I have come to the conclusion we have a good ghost in the house. My mom died unexpectidly back in 1990 when I was 18. It was a huge loss to endure but my family made it. Well jump ahead to about 3 weeks ago..... my 2 1/2 year old was playing in her room and I was just outside of her room watching and listening. She just really starting to talk and I was enjoying watching her play and gab away. When she finally noticed me I asked her who she was talking to....she said' "my friend". I did not pay any attention to it because all kids have those imaginary friends. Well about a couple of weeks ago I came across some pictures of my mom. My daughter grabbed a picture and said " Daddy...my friend" I really started to shake a little. But my daughter just kept looking at the picture and kept saying "my friend". It really gives me the chills but in a way I find great comfort that my mom's spirit is with us and she is watching over my family. So I think we have a ghost and I hope she stays.

It's not a house, but my wife and a friend had an expierience.

We do a lot of photography. We were in Portland Or about 5 years ago. My wife and our friend decided it would be cool to go to one of the older cemeteries in Portland, late at night, and take pictures. We had film camera's, her friend had a digital.

They went out there, and were quiet and respectful. They took some pictures, with flashes, and a couple without. On both digital and slide film, there were brilliant orbs that they had not seen with the naked eye and flashlights. None of the orbs seemed to be any type of reflection from the flash, nor from the lens apereture like occurs from the sun.

No explanation, except they were there in both formats, with and without flash. They said they were quite, respectful, but did talk quitely, almost explaining how they were taking the pictures. Not cold spots, hot spots or anything.

I'll see if I can round up one of the pictures and reduce it to size for this site.

Hi All,

Funny this subject is being brought up. I live in upstate Ny and up until a few years ago I would have skipped this subject in a heartbeat, until now. We have a 4 family farm that was created by buying up a few other farms in the last 80 years. I live on a parcel that was actually part of one of the smaller farms and 2 houses up is the orgional farm house. That being said, that farmhouse dates back to the early 1800's The people who live there now have been in the house for about 20 yr or so and are good neighbors. About 2 yrs ago I got a frantic phone call one night from the wife of the couple who lives there, she was crying and summoned me there ASAP. A little background on the family, her husband is out of town for sometimes weeks at a time due to his job so she was alone with her 13 and 17 yr old kids. Not sure what what was going on I flew over there to find her and her 2 kids in tears. Here is her story, In her kitchen the lower cabnet doors were slamming shut and opening at a very high and fast rate, she also had a radio mounted under her upper cabnet that was turning off and on at the same time. When I arrived it had stopped. I was a bit taken back by the look on their faces and the sheer terror and fright her children faces when I started to question what happened. I tried and looked for a logical answer but could find none, but judging by there state, I had no reason not to believe their story. What to do? I needed some kind of proof for myself. I own a sony video camara with niteshot(lets you film in the dark). I also have a digital camara at the time. I set up a video camara in the house for about 1 hour in 2 different places just to see for myself. At the time of the filming it was just Myself, The wife and her daughter. I did not see anything at the time but when I reviewed the video at my house I was in for a shocker and it changed my overall views on things. About 10 mins into the video a ball of light flew past the camara and a very distinktive male sounding voice laughing like "huh Huh Huh". OK now Iam freaked but managed to play that clip back about 50 times to confirm what I was seeing and hearing. That part of the video was upstairs in a old room and we were downstairs in her kitchen. The second part was filmed downstairs in her dinnning room. Near the end of the film in her dinning room her cat jumped on the table and the daughter picked up the cat and was holding it up close to the camara. Just at that point a unkown male voice comes on the video and says very clearly "BEAR" I bet i played that back I bet 100 times that night and knowing what he was talking about. The cats name is BEAR. I can tell you all for sure I did not sleep that night at all. I also took some pics of the house and found one I will share with you all. Looks like 2 balls of light well above second story casting shadows on the house. A lot more to this story and perhaps I will post more as time permits me.

Chris

Chris, Your picture appears to have shadows from the ORBS(spots of light)hitting the house with the light source casting that shadow from another angle than the camera!? OOOHHH /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
