Iseki TS 2205 ran out of Fuel still won\'t start!!

As many of you know I ran my Iseki TS 2205 tractor out of fuel. I bled the lines and got it running again. It ran for about 1/2 a tank of fuel. I parked it and went out the next day and it would not restart.

We look for fuel at the top of the injectors. We had none so we think we had a small leak drawing in air. I emailed Derrick at Rainbow Distributors and he sent me a diagram on how to bled the lines. We did this. Tractor still won't start.

Now here are my questions.

1. We have fuel at the bled screw on the side of the injector pump but it won't pump pressure out the top.

Could we have some trash in the pump?

2. The tractor has 1040 hours on it. It looks in really good condition. No engine smoke. Good power. When I got it past overheating it pulls my 5' bush hog in 3' grass in 3rd low gear with no problem.

Could my pump just of gone bad overnight? Could I have a leaking seal?

How do you check the pump in the field? My engine is an Isuzu 2AB1. It is a 2 cylinder. Would any diesel pump mechanic know how to work on it?

3. If I need to rebuild the injector pump can I still buy an overhaul kit for it?

I know these are a lot of questions. But I am on a really tight budget and know a little about diesels but only know enough to get myself in trouble.

My neighbor is a gas engine mechanic and is helping me but he is at a loss now.

I'm no diesel expert; however, if you have fuel, (no bubbles), at the pump, but no fuel flow out of the pump, you have a pump problem. I would either take the pump apart and have a look or take it to an injector shop.

I'd be leary of taking an injector pump apart. I've known some that have but the reputable rebuilders work on injector pumps in a clean room. Besides that you could mess up the timing. Even some experts don't get the timing dead on. The close enough is good enough attitude results in a pump that works, but it's a dog. The engine never produces the power it could. I regard injection pumps like automatic transmissions; better let the real experts repair them.

Go back over the injection lines. Make sure you're not sucking or pushing air. Check the fuel filter for blockage or water. By completely draining the tank and then filling, you may have disturbed some foreign material in the bottom. When I run into fuel problems I usually disconnect the fuel line at the filter or drop the filter and let the fuel drain into a 5 gal. bucket until I'm sure there's nothing in the tank or lines that will make the injection pump unhappy.

The fact that the problem ocurred after running out of fuel leads me to believe the pump is still good.

As I understand it, pump timing is based on the # of shims used to install the pump, at least on Yanmars. If that's the case, timing should not be a problem unless you lose a shim, (or find one).

At least on one pump, I found out it and the one before it had been timed wrong. If the timing is strictly dependent on shiming for all injection pumps that means the shim or shim pack was wrong.

Even if the timing does depend on shims, you're still dealing with something with close tolerances. The one rebuild shop I dealt with in person, had women doing all the pump rebuilds wearing gloves. It wasn't a kitchen table setup. It looked more like an operating room through the window. In fact visitors weren't allowed in the area.

Are you sure the throttle isn't set in the off position?

do not take the pump apart!!!!!!!..u have air in yer injector pump!!!!!!!...loosen all injectors top nuts...almost off 1/2 turn left..... bleed to injectr pump real well.....then tighten injector inlet hose....bleed just on top of all injector lines on outgoing side real well...then do the top of injector nuts.....I am a pretty good wrench and have worked on mercedes..westerbeke...cats...detroits...volvopenta's... gm's...volkswagens...fords...jist to mame a few and my iseki tl3201 with a4 cyl isuzu diesel was by far the most difficult to gitt completely bled...cut sat 4... 2 weeks this past winter while i fought with it!!!!! ended puttin rag in fuel tank fill hole..puttin in my blow gun and hittin it with air while bleeding all of the above spots....needed 2 people to do it..pumped the primer pum till blue to ...to no avail...if u still can't git it pm me and i'll give u my telly #.....was a total bear!!!

bleed to fuel pump real well first....intake side...the problem i felt was in th e filter area on my particular iseki...after runnin out of fuel it jist didnt wast to fiil see thru filter agin...hence the air on the tank....then bled to intake side of fuel pump real well..

THEN i bled to the injector nuts..i actually could'nt reach the back 2 so just did the front 2..but all 4 on the output sid e of the injector pump were givin me fuel!!!..good luck bud !!!!
