After the oil is warmed up in the transmission, When I let out the clutch in neutral, there is a fair amount of transmission noise. The noise is a little like a muffled old thrashing machine.

I assume that this is not normal. Might I be looking at a bad gear, bearing, or bent shaft on one of the gear shafts?

Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

By the description (noise when clutch is out in neutral) it sounds like it is the clutch throw-out bearing. This is a commonly replaced part, but requires splitting the tractor to replace.

I thought if the clutch was adjusted correctly (with the clutch out ) the throwout bearing would not be making contact with anything. With the bearing not touching it's not turning (no noise ). Sounds more like an input shaft bearing to me. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
