This is my first post on the forums, so why not start with the fact that I'm searching for an x595 4WD with a 54" deck. I'm in Maryland and am willing to drive quite a distance for the right example. Alternately, I would consider having one shipped.

Please let me know if you have one for sale, or know of one.

Search all of Craigslist using searchtempest.com. It'll take a bit of configuring but you'll find any number of these.

You also might try Used Farm & Agricultural Equipment - John Deere MachineFinder, Deere's listings of used equipment available at JD dealers. Some dealer may have taken one in trade.

Thank you - I did check that as well and have bookmarked the site.

I have found a few possible candidates, but am quite hesitant to purchase a tractor that's too far away to go inspect it first. As tempting as it is to trust a dealer's glowing description and then find an inexpensive shipper, I think I'll hold out until I find a unit that's within an 8-hour drive or so.

A bump in case someone knows of one for sale.

This morning I took an hour+ drive to go check out an '03 x595, Diesel, 4WD. The tractor has 312 hours and comes with the 62" deck. It's at a Deere dealer, and was traded in by the original owner on a new machine.

I drove it around for quite some time (in the rain) and it felt solid, ran strong, and seemed to be in good shape all around. On the flip side, the hood has a crack, and the plastic behind the seat is cracked. Nothing terrible, but they represent potential costs should I decide to pull the trigger.

The tractor is available for $6,000 - is this a reasonable price, or should I keep looking? From all of the ones I've found online, it seems like a good price.

Looking forward to your thoughts.

I've looked at these in the past, and depending upon condition, I would think this pricing sounds pretty attractive.

I brought the tractor home yesterday. While it has a few blemishes and rough edges, it runs beautifully and feels drum tight. I will repair the cracked hood from behind and have already purchased all fluids and filters for a complete service.

The one question I have concerns the temp gauge - it simply sits in one spot at the top of the range - regardless if the engine is running or not. I'll need to do some searching here to get to the bottom of that.

Here is the only pic I have at the moment:

That is a really nice-looking machine. I had one of those a while back with a 62x mower deck. It was fantastic and really stout for a machine its size tilling and moving snow. I would not have sold mine had I not had a need for a loader that could work in conjunction with a rear implement at the same time, which these cannot support. I wish I had kept that tractor, but I am also satisfied with what I have now. Our security guy lives about a mile from our neighborhood. He keeps two beautiful gardens, each about 1/2 acre in size that are close, but not on, his property. He has a 4320 and a 595, both with tillers. He never uses his 4320!! I will see him puttering down the road at 8.5 mph, tiller in tow.....on the 595.
