My experience here is a little limited for providing an answer [I too may be staring at the proverbial forest], but had the same question a while back, so I PM'ed a couple "TBN regulars" and both were gracious enough to reply; one suggesting a couple threads for reading fodder.
From my take: as mentioned before, the issues aren't trolls so much as over-zealous brand loyalty and/or poor netiquette [do I need a pocket-protector to use that word? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif]. On a quick read of the examples I was given, I [and, I assume, the casual reader] almost miss any heat; reading again knowing about previous interjections, I seen the conflict easily. When the senario happens repeadly [and especially if backed up with nasty-gram PM's] the original poster eventually get's annoyed. Especially, if they're just trying to share knowlege and if those who disagree can't find a constructive way too do it.
The long and short being that the most frequent and those provinding frequent information &/or opinions, are the ones most likely to "catch the heat"; therefor most likely to have bad experiences while the rest of us remain quite happy.
