Am I correct that this new gasser also has direct fuel injection?

I've heard that as well, but don't know. Swines seems to be extremely accurate with his specific Ford information. Maybe he'll drop by and let us know. I assume he's in a position of knowing but likely has to be careful all the information he can disperse.

This was blown way out of proportion. It was only on the first few model years of the trucks then fixed with new heads.

The problem with the newer gas models heads is getting the plugs out of the heads without breaking them - the design of the heads/plugs makes them prone to carbon build up around the tip of the plug. Ford has issued service bulletins on how to remove the plugs, it involves cracking the plug loose, filling the plug hole with some penetrating oil to loosen the carbon, etc.

As for the F250 vs. F350, I'm not sure on the newer models, but most years (my 2006 F350 vs. my neighbors F250 for sure) the only difference was in the height of the trucks and the rating of the springs - all the other drive components are the same between the 250 and the 350.

You are right but trust me. I own a 2004 F-250 4x4 short bed extended cab diesel and a 2006 F-350 4x4 short bed extended cab diesel and there is no comparison. The F-350 is a much stabler truck when towing more then 10,000# or so. My F-250 has a GVWR of 10,000# and my F-350 is 11,500# but the truck is only 100# heavier leaving 1,400# usable more on the ball or in the bed. My F-250 will not handle my 15,600# boat nearly as well. It drops the rear end a good 8" or more when its hitched up versus the F-350 only dropping maybe 2" tops. Thats with 1,800# on the ball.

Yup, bottom line is how you set them up, not what the little chrome model number on the fender says. My '06 F350 (standard cab, long bed) has a GVW of 10,500, so it's not setup that different from your F250. Just put the heavier springs and taller blocks in your 250 and you got a 350!

I had the F-250 and was happy with it until I put a real load behind it. Not really knowing much I bought a GM 3500 Dmax. I though ok, 1 ton. Later I got looking and it had a 9,900# GVWR. What the heck! My F-250 3/4 ton had 10,000# GVWR. After the 3500 gave me so many issues I ran back to Ford and ordered my F-350 and told the guy I wanted every HD option on it. It has the snow plow prep, dual alternators, slide in camper prep, ect. These packages were needed to get the GVWR the highest even though I will never put a plow or a camper on it.

Heavier duty springs and a thicker frame?

Heavier duty springs and a thicker frame?

No difference in the frames from what I can tell. Purely suspension between the F-250 and the F-350.

NMU I have the same truck with around 30K. No problems with my truck, but am curious what the problem was.

My 08 gmc diesel stranded my family last night in the middle of the UP and after limping it 2 hours to a dealer this morning, they are throwing their hands in the air on fixing it...... I still have 7 hours to drive home..

Anyway, I am going to buy a F250 in gas. I wanted to wait for the 6.2.. But I might not have the opportunity. SO, when is the 6.2 coming out? And what is the most reliable gas engine to purchase in the F250.... Or do I have options? I am going there to build one out now, but any suggestions are very welcome!

I have seen gelled fuel cause disappearing driveability issues. Just a thought considering you were in the U.P. of MI. when you had the issues.
