Saw an ad in the local paper yesterday for "1994-1996 Yanmar diesel tractors model 1500D". Don't know if these are sold by a "dealer" or private party. If they are dealers I wonder if they are ignorant enough to believe these tractors are actually mid 90s or if they are trying to pull the wool over the eyes of propective buyers.

no dealer could possibly not know the era of that most popular of tractors.

Fraud is an act that any customer can sue for. If some of these guys would get a big judgement against them it might stop some of this. It only hurts the honest dealers.

Very interesting piece, Buck. He just didn't know when to quit.

I read your article. I had 2 people contact me for part for their tractors from that area. Both had receipts that specified they were Mitsubishi tractors(the model #s were grey). All model # were ground off. Both ended up being Iseki tractors .

It seems like a hell of a lot of work for nothing. I have people lining up to buy, they dont care if it grey or not just so long as they don’t have to sell their kids into slavery to pay for it. When I was looking for a tractor he sent me a brochure called me a couple days later and wanted me to send money or send his brochure back, hehe. I cant tell you what I did with it but I defiantly didn’t send it back /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Those brochures are really expensive. Send it back so you can sleep at night.

Great post Buck,
I certainly makes others selling greys look bad when someone like that misrepresents the product. I have several people calling me and asking about greys. Just like I did with you! I try to tell them everything I know to have informed buyers. It seems the more they know the more questions they have, which is good. Makes for great TBN material and more tractor talk. I always tell them refer to TBN and see what the more experienced grey market guys have to say. Great way to do research!! Keep up the great posts, information is power!!

I drive by this place about 3 times a week. He now sells Jinma and I believe its called a Nortrac by Northern or something similar. My dad called him about 2 months ago, and was thinking about purchasing a tractor from him, and my dad told me that he thought there was something fishy with this guy. He never bought anything from him. I do remember this same person selling Rhino tractors from China.
