Yesterday it was time for my 10 hour FEL grease job. While hittin' the zerks, I noticed that one of the small bolts that hold in one of the upper pins went south and the pin was working it's way out. I also noticed while doing a quick walk around that one of the threaded lower link pins on my brush cutter came loose and was sagging. If it wasn't for the required routine maintenence, some of these issues might not get noticed until a problem occurs.

I agree completly,The best time you can spend on your tractor is a lube and walk around to save the big problems from developing. One thing I found real soon was that the zirks on the FEL and BH were all loose from the dealer and/or factory. It took 2 broken zirks and 1 replacement pin to wake me up but it could have been worse.

Steve A,
I had a bolt snap also that holds the pin on my 723 loader. I can't see where the rascal was though. I lifted the bucket up and down and actually knocked the pin in and out and it is hard to tell where that bolt was actually located. I don't know if I should just knock the loader pin out and then locate where the bolt was and whack it with a punch? Did anyone ever pull a pin out of the top loader arm and have a feel for haw hard it is to get the loader pin back in??

I changed the broken bolt today. Took 10 minutes. I wa moving some 2000# rocks around when it happened. I guess the pin was really loaded up with the weight and spun the bolt shearing it off. All fixed and ready to go again. Don't mind the real simple problems as this was the first I've had in the first 90 hours. Now my mind is at ease.

You are right on SteveA. A quick look around can sure save a lot of heartache down the road. I was greasing my tractor after the first couple of hours I had it and noticed the pins that hold the lower 3pt arms were backing out and almost falling off because the bolts had backed out (and disappeared). Luckily I caught it in time. Photo enclosed.
