It's Coming Down Again - Time to plug in the BX again

We may get it again here in eastern Kansas....so far this season there has been 25 inches. The recent break allowed me to rake up the gravel from pushing snow back too far. Single digits coming next few days. This time next year, I may have a block heater...but the BX2660 started okay in zero temps last time.

I'd slap on a magnetic heater, on the oil pan. At least your oil would be warm. Better than nothing in zero weather.

They are calling for 15-18" for us in south central VA ....yes Virginia lol.

I used to live in NOVA (Arlington) and shuttled out to WV for work. I know you don't have to go far out of the Potomac River Valley to hit cold and snow!

I plowed some snow tonight,did'nt get much here today only about 4 inches.It sure did get cold tonight, is about 6 degrees now.

You flatlanders down state have certainly been missed with the snow storms. Sometimes it is just like that. But, sometimes February and March are make up months. There's still hope.

Yeah the last two years were nearly record years, this year has been boring. Good ice fishing weather though

Any Yoopers on this thread? I went to Michigan Tech, and I used to be the lighthouse keeper in Eagle Harbor, MI. You KNOW I would have loved to have had a blower or tractor back in those days, eh!

Thanks for the tip. In reading so many posts on various subjects, I forgot what decisions seemed best for me. The"slap on" is my kinda cure.: I've got an oil dip stick from years ago used on the old Dodge truck, but it looks to be too long and may not be as efficient as the magnetic one.

I always chuckle when the southern Michigan boys like bk fick talk about snow.

I left my house yesterday (between Marquette and Gwinn) in the UP of Michigan at a little after 11 AM and it was sunny, bright and 1 degree. When I got to Lake Superior 15 minutes later it started to snow (lake effect) and within 2 minutes it was a hellish snowstorm the likes of which I haven't seen for a while. It was often like someone had a thrown a white sheet on the windshield. I was just hoping no one was in front of me. Finally when I got to Seney, I turned south on HY 77 hoping it would be better along US 2 on Lake Michigan, but it was snowing along US for a while, but it was better for the last 50 miles to the Mackinac Bridge.

I was hoping when I got to the lower peninsula of Michigan it would be better and I could make up for lost time. As I passed by bp fick's house it was still snowing so I had to go a little slower than I intended, but nothing like the storm along Lake Superior. I was heading to Big Rapids to see two basketball games (Northern Michigan U vs Ferris State U - men and women's games). Afterwards I drove to Mt. Pleasant to spend a couple days with my daughter who is a student at Central Michigan. Meanwhile, back at the house, it was still clear. In the first 11 days of January I snow blowed 7 times with 60" of snow total. Since then, I haven't had to snow blow.
