nice pics

looks like my polaris ranger xp on steroids.

they really did change the frame/suspension significantly. the ride could be quite a bit better.

looks like the passenger "sits" on the engine. i wonder how that results in a quieter machine??? better noise insulation?

is the cab really 60inches wide without the mirrors or door handles???

those larger tires don't look too big.

thx again

The tires are 29" instead of 27" but the whole thing sits quite a bit higher than I remember the C sitting. The cab seems to be as wide as the tires, so if the tires are 60" so is the cab. If you get on the front and jump on it with no bucket or attachment it will move up and down alittle bit.

i would definately be all for the larger tires for better ground clearance as i use on woods roads.

very interesting changes. i will need to take one for a spin. four wheel steer with independent suspension at all 4 corners. my only reservation would be with the loading capabilities out front with the new suspension - i would assume they built the front end to handle as much as the c without corner dive with a full bucket. also not crazy about loosing 5 inches length on the bed and lack of 3 pt hitch out back (even w/o pto).

I see that the front and rear axles are about the same construction. I am wondering if there were any compromises in strength. I think I'm looking at a 5/8" bolt and a 1/16" or 1/8" frame bracket.

yes.

the c has a solid rear and front axle. this would be my only concern on the d.
trucks (1/2,3/4,1 ton) still use a solid axle in the back for many reasons. not sure how the new independent front suspension will hold up and perform compared to the "c" solid articulating axle.

That change required some significant assembly retooling. I really don't want to worry about twisting off a CV joint in a mud hole. The TC at 5000 lbs would be lot harder to tow home than my 1100 lb Polaris Ranger. It was always the front axles that were vulnerable on the UTV's. Now with both axles steering it could be a concern. Have any of the dealers out there received an explanation or assurances regarding this change? I trust they would not sacrafice integrity for a smooth ride. I wonder how much different these axles are from those used on the Bobcat Utility Vehicle?

So, come Monday, can you put 1500 lbs in the bucket and beat it out of the worst mud hole you can find to assure everyone that my concerns are unfounded. You know what, I bet that it is the limited suspension travel that saves it. As for the CV joint there surely must have been one (front and back) on the C series. Possibly the only differences is that they're exposed with the independent suspension setup. (Okay another CV joint was added in the rear). I'm rambling, anybody out there know something about this?

My understanding, it the engine is on the right side near the box and driver sits on the fuel tank located on the left. I drove a prototype D unit and it was as quiet as my JD 3720 CUT.
The suspension in the pictures has rubber/urethane looking pads that seem close to the top of the independant suspension A arm. Those pads would result in limited suspension travel and tilt of the machine. However, this should allow some suspension travel over rougher ground. Don't expect 6-7" of travel and more likely 2-3".

The driver seat seems slightly higher than the passenger seat. I was told that the suspension seat would no longer be needed with the new independant suspension. Does the current seat have any suspension?
I can't stop drooling over those pictures. Still needs a 3 point system on the back to be complete!
Have you had a chance to drive it over rough terrain? How is the cab noise?

i am also contemplating trading to the d. i drive over a lot of bumpy roads.

does anyone have any concerns over the durability of the wishbone type front suspension and cv jt? compared to the c solid axle looks less "solid" and is more exposed. i took a good look at the front of my c and it is a solid unit. i am a bit nervous that a good hole or rock could easily bend/break the wishbone or axle. also not sure how it would handle a full bucket of gravel. my c does fine with a full 68" bucket.

thx
