Yesterday I officially submitted my paperwork to retire!:jump: House plans underway and I'm looking forward to finally having the time and place to play. I'll be able to actually HAVE a tractor and put into practice all the great things that I can but read about on this site. The end date is still 5 months and change out but now tractors, loaders, backhoes, chainsaws, land clearing, wood chopping, attachments and projects are becoming reality.

Good luck. Plenty of good land in VA to do it. We're enjoying it here west of Ch'ville.

Congrats, you'll love it once you get established, but retirement does take some getting used to there at first

Congratulations! Five months will zoom by.

One of the biggest dangers in retirement is being too close to the refrigerator. :p

I retired just prior to turning 62 and love it. My ex-company pestered me to do a short term job the next year later and I agreed to work it in Algeria North Africa thinking that it would be nice to spend the winter in Africa. Little did I know (I didn't look up the location prior to committing) that winter in Algeria got lots of snow and rain. I made 5 months on that project that was suppose to be only 2 months, but I made a ton of money so it was ok. Then the following year they begged me to take another 2 month job in Angola, Africa which was just 8 weeks plus 3 weeks pay at the end so that was OK also and was a good experience as I got to travel all over the country to view the place and people, kinda like a paid vacation. I don't expect to make any more "short term" assignments now and just take all the time I need to work around the home place. Sometimes the companies don't realize that retirement really means no more work and even the retiree, like myself, sometimes has to realize that he is retired and quit taking on work.
Good luck in your retirement and hope you enjoy it.

re·tire 1. leave one's job and cease to work,

But generally work harder and do more things than before retiring.

It reads like you have the path determined. Good luck!
