Rain and yuck due here tomorrow. I am debating starting the coal stoker to heat the place.
You got a stoker from Matt?

We are going to have lots of tomatos down stairs "reading the papers" waiting to turn from green to red.
But ... we have been drying them the last couple of years, and they sure can be a treat that way.

Eat the dried cherry tomatos (seasoned to our liking) out of hand, like chips.

The fat slices end up like some sort of "chip" good for dipping, they don't break!
Tomatoes were late here this year and we've been covering the plants for the last week or so. Too many greenies to give to the frost. We haven't had much luck bag ripening them unless they have some red showing.

We may lose the rest of the "crop" tonight though. temps are supposed to be in the mid 20's and a hard freeze is likely. We'll cover them anyway and hope for the best. 🤞

We paint ours when we take it off at the end of the season, so it doesn't have all summer to rust up. If we were to paint the throat now, it would just wear away the first time we had to use it this Fall.
That's good thinking. Most tractor paint is alkyd enamel, which goes thru a hardening phase starting around 7 - 14 days after coating, lasting until 30 - 60 days from application... depending on conditions, brand, etc. Prior to the completion of this hardening phase, it's pretty soft and fragile.

Try painting inside blower chute with graphite paint from TSC. Wet snow does not stick.

It needs another rattle can of Kubota orange to cover, then a couple more cans of "something" for the snow hopper.
Original cream was covered over with black. I've got some puke green that I can brush on ;-)

Then assembly with new chain, and sprocket along with an idler sprocket too!

Mounting on a an old B series. Front drive!

We Haa! Let it snow!

I vote for Hillbilly Chrome for the hopper. LOL!

No, sadly at the time I ended up buying a keystoker as the AA, LL EFM and AHS units were all above $7,000.00 to $10,000 plus the installation cost w with no dealer support. The clown plumbers I hired on;y made it worse as they stuck me with a $5,000.00 bill counting the 3 days they spent installing it plus the trouble calls. I should have sued keystoker and bought an AHS S130 as I lost perfectly good Buderus Logana G204 oil boiler in the process.
The AHS Dealer in Geneva knew nothing about the AHS coal stokers when I went up there 11 years ago and he would not give me a cash discount for buying an S130. I could have left the buderus boiler in place and slid out the hand fed boiler and slid the S130 right next to it and just updated my plumbing and piping.

The KAA-4-1 I bought came with a digital triple aquastat and the damn thing almost blew my house up and would have killed my wife.
They said that they could no longer buy the honeywell mechanical triple aquastats which was a lie; and they were going to charge me
75 dollars an hour to come and fix my boiler plus travel time when the damn thing was under warranty.

I tell anyone that wants to buy a coal stoker boiler now to set the digital aquastat it comes with aside or sell it and buy a honeywell L824L triple aquastat from supply house and a spare unit as they are much more reliable controls. I also tell folks to purchase a separate electric low water cut off like the Mcdonnell and Miller RB-122-E and wire it as the first electronic control that will shut the boiler off if it senses no water in the steam chest.

The digital triple aquastats are not reliable and the low water cut off function does not work.
