I would think,80-90 would be alright for maine, now maybe alaska.

And always did do just like Dave said with 4wd on tractor, despite all those people who will tell you other wise and say they leave them in all the time.

Never did do that even to a 4wd truck, still my old toyota has locking hubs, and still lock and unlock them, much more of a pain than putting a ck30 in 4wd and out.
Newer ford has the perminate hubs[or whatever you call them,]but don't leave it in 4 wheel high if not needed, you can feel it catching if on not slick surface if going real slow, around a sharp curve. Tells me something is binding a little.

The manual says either 90w gear oil or hydraulic transmission fluid for the front axle. And that they ship it from the factory with the hydraulic fluid in there. One better than the other in this application?
Does Tractor Supply sell any hydraulic fluid that meets the spec that Kioti calls for on a DK45SE HST?

I use the gear oil. Do yourself a favor and buy the manual for the 45. it has information in it that the owners manual does not. Rick or another dealer will send it to you, but it isn't cheap.

FWIW I have used the gear oil in mine every time I changed it. Make sure you clean around those nuts/bolts before removing. You don't want that junk in there. If I remember correctly, everything was marked in orange on mine, both drain and fill. It took awhile for it to drain out. I would plan on an overnight if your time is tight. I let it drain overnight, then the next day refill.

There are several threads on this Kioti part of TBN about 50 hr service. Wait til you see all the metal those big filters have on them.

$72.88 plus shipping. Nice three ring binder. Very nicely illustrated. Well indexed. And, (drum roll), it is even written in real English! (with a few real American engineer-speak grammatical errors thrown in for authenticity). Each major component has a separate chapter with sections on specifications, operating principle, troubleshooting, measurement and adjustment, exploded view illustrations and servicing.

I like the fact that it is not just a repair manual but actually explains a lot of the design features and operating principles. It is really more of a Kioti DKse 101 college course than just a shop manual. (I would not say the same about my earlier CK20 shop manual which was much rougher and less complete...not sure if they have updated that) The manual even explains how to make special tools (eg crankshaft turning socket: a. cut the coupler (Daedong part No. 37805-4452-1) in half. b. Weld the 1/2" socket to the coupler. or, c. you can use Daedong special tool kit (part No.: G0611-B0010)). The electrical system chapter is great with specific explanations and diagrams on how to go about inspecting/testing and electric circuit. They also provide specific directions on how to test a thermostat for example. I think that these sorts of explanation and detail are very useful for the non professional. It really seems to be aimed not only at providing detail for the experienced tractor/diesel mechanic but is also perfectly accessible to anyone who is sufficently mechanically inclined to know which end of a screwdriver goes into your hand (I pass that test but without honors).

For smallish components, like the engine stop solenoid, they provide not only a diagram but a photo of the engine with the part highlighted to permit easy identification. Very nice touch.

Another example of how thoughtfully this was put together is that when they state that either SAE90 gear or or transmission fluid can be used in the front axle, they then take the extra step of reminding you that you cannot use the gear oil in the HST just in case you made the mistake of assuming they were equivalent.

Complaints: None really.

Suggested improvements: The diagrams are great and the exploded views are well labelled. It would be useful however to include the Kioti part numbers in addition to the description (eg "bolt with captive washer) to facilitate accurate parts replacement/ordering.

I do wish they had a CD or PDF based version for consumers and I assume the dealers have that (or on line access) as Rick periodically posts some of the exploded diagrams from the manual.

Bottom line: Get one.

===============================

Sooner or later any serious tractor owner is going to be able to use a service manual for their tractor.

Anybody looking for a manual for a CK20 can find one currently selling on EBAY. I listed it myself. You can find it by typing in "CK20 manual" from a search line on an EBAY webpage. It's used but in excellent condition.

I went with the gear oil.

Where on the sight glass should the fluid level be? After letting it sttle for a couple of days and then tunning the tractor for 20-30 minutes the sight glass on one side is 3/4 full and completely full on the other side.

Good advice on the shop manual. I purchased it not too long after getting the tractor. It was expensive but I figured I need all the help I can get as the nearest dealer is 40-50 miles away and I do not own a truck or trailer capable of hauling the Kioti in for service.

Mines just got the window on one side[thats good cause if I had two, might have never got it full],I don't know,I filled mine so I can just barely see air at top when setting level. I would think you would be alright where you are,but keep checking it,it took several hours on mine, than winter came. You don't want to over fill it by much, but you don't want it under filled by any.

I don't have the book on me right now, but did you measure how much you put in it? On mine, it leveled over time, but it took awhile. If you put in the required amount I wouldn't worry. As soon as that tractor starts vibrating and bouncing it will level out nicely. That gear oil is thick, and if there is an air pocket in the oil, or in some side pocket or chamber,it may take some vibration to get it out/move it around.

When you drain your fluids into the large tub, make some marks in or on the tub for amounts. I made some one gallon level marks in my tub, nothing fancy, so I know how much fluid has been drained.

If you feel somewhat concerned, and it still doesn't level for you, remove the fill plug and put a little more in on the low side.

I don't think its low I am thinking it might be a bit high.
I have used the tractor about an hour or so since changing it and both sight glasses have a very small bubble(about 5% of the glass area) visible at their top.

No,its not too high than, you got what, half unfilled if its to top of sight glass?

No expert but I think the only reason you don't fill gear boxes all the way up is number one, expansion and number two,you don't need them filled all the way for gears to sling it all around in the places that need it.
Plenty of room for expansion if filled even probably an inch over sight glass.??!!
And if you are on a side slope,it all runs to one side I bet.

As far as putting in what manual says in front,if I woulda done that I woulda been two gts low or so,Like I've already said.
