Re: It\'s your fault!

ONLY 10k$ for a garage?

We spent 40k$ on our "carriage house". The builder says it might cost 3 or 4 times that now. Downstairs in the roll-out basement is where the new JD lives. The Gravely and pickup live at driveway level along with the Gravely cart and a couple other Gravely attachments. Upstairs is a nice storage area, the only one with plain stairs to walk up that don't require lowering, etc.

Downstairs is also my plant starting area plus a couple cabana areas for the pool, my Troy Bilt shredder, a freezer and some tool storage areas.

A crawler, now we're talking! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I think Bob Skurka floated a thread about trying to find a good inexpensive crawler tractor. Good thing he didn't find one /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif or there are at least three of us here who'd be in trouble. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yes, well, that's for the garage, but watching JimR's timberframe barn repairs and Bebster's Cape Cod Barn have put it in my head to build another timberframe structure. I figure if I build enough outbuildings, I won't have any lawn to mow any more. Of course that would lead to a discussion about just why I have a lawn tractor (not to mention the real tractor) which leads back to needing more land to justify the tractor(s). It's a vicious cycle, and I claim that TBN supplies the wind to keep the cycle going.

Re: It\'s your fault!

( OK, I've seen a bunch of posts thanking TBN folks for helping with a tractor purchase, but to be honest, those posts should mostly say it's all your fault!

Fact is, I wouldn't even have a tractor if it weren't for TBN. Just think of all the time I've spent using the tractor this summer when I could have been inside writing or reading or practicing my blues harp or something. Instead I was pulling stumps, splitting logs, spreading mulch and all that.

What's more, you've cost me a small fortune and it's getting worse! I spent close to 20K on a tractor, then had to buy all the usual stuff to go with it like chains and a quick hitch and lots of pins and fuel and fuel additives. Then I had to build a machinery shed to put the tractor in (another 10K). You've convinced me that I need a woodchipper, and a carry all, and a tiller. Now I'm looking at the tractor and the amount of land I have, and I'm thinking that I really need more land to go with the tractor I bought. How much is that going to cost?

Then, watching Von's thread on the UNIMOG and various threads on welding have now convinced me that I need a Hobart 180 welder and a restoration project, which, by the way, will require me to run electricity (220) to my machinery shed, or maybe build another project shed. How much is that going to cost?

And finally, with the admittedly very engrosing conversation on TBN, I spend way too much time talking to a lot of people I don't know (plus one I do) on the internet. I think I need a new computer. Good grief.

In this, all members of the TBN community are culpable. I should sue.

All I can say is thanks a lot.

I know what you mean:
Now I need a roll back truck to haul my tractor and equipment on.
A small dump truck to hall in Sand.Gravel,Slag & Dirt to keep the tractor fed.
Another new 7 stall pole building to park the 2 trucks in and to store the Sand.Gravel,Slag & Dirt inside so it stays dry won't freeze up and prevent weeds growing in the dirt. The 12 stalls I all ready have are not enough cause they're all full.

Cliff......... after reading MadDogs bio, I believe that it will be in your best interest to apologize to him. In fact, you better apologize to everyone on TBN for your comments, or he might just start a class action law suite against you. The way that I see it, we will all be owning a piece of that equipment barn and all that is in it..... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

What? Because he likes opera? I don't blame him for that.

"all be owning a piece?" Junkman, I don't think you understand how this lawsuit thing works.

Re: It\'s your fault!

Sounds to me like Junkman's understanding of the dynamics of litigation is quite adequate. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

....but he was thinkin' about the pre-emptive suit I might bring FOR the TBNers who are your potential targets and AGAINST you; not the suit that you were contemplating. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Not to worry, though; it's Christmas week; you know "Christmas, Dick ....CHRISTMAS, EBENEEZER.." (much good it did Old Fezziwig). I try to stay away from startin' lawsuits during Christmas week.....unless it's truly needful. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

....the Statute of Limitations probably isn't about to expire for anyone's claims. .....try me NEXT week. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I meant that Junkman didn't seem to understand that the lawyer always takes his CUT first, and I've only got one.

Re: It\'s your fault!

Cliff: Sounds like you got the deal of a century on your building ( $10,000 ???????? ) . Don't check the mailbox too often. You may have only made the down payment. Yup.. it is a contagious disease and hopefully they will never find a cure. Sounds like a great class action suite to me.. Fire the first volley !!!!!

Re: It\'s your fault!

Touche, Cliff. I wasn't thinking of it that way; not doing contingency work, I don't take CUTs; I only play with them. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
