Sounds like there is a story there! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Cindi you crossed my mind the other day. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

First you have to understand that I'm one of these folks in real life that's never met a stranger. Large cross for such a small guy to carry. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

So when there was an issue on a job that involved the neighbor I walked over and knocked on the door.

Just about the time I'd decided no one was home the door opens. First thought across my mind was, "uh oh, I've just stumbled onto a severely abused spouse situation." She came across as timid, a little insecure, not having much concern about her appearance, and about my age.

I explained the situation and gave her one of my cards along with the information to call me if there was a problem before she called anyone else.

She saw the photos online address and my email. That started a whole new conversation about TBN and the internet in general.

I confessed to being handicapped with the fast finger tall story syndrome. She admitted to being a published novelist, twenty five of them.

As we talked and she came out of her shell I thought of you. Here was a woman who had lived your dream, the recognition, wealth, and satisfaction of writing a lifetime. And she was a recluse. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Life's funny isn't it?

I hope you're preparing yourself for success. It'd be a shame to have you find your dream and then we lose you because you weren't prepared for the glory.

There's no doubt about your success. That's why I want you to prepare for it.

WOW HARV! Sorry to go tripping through your subconscious without permission, but what a nice thing to say! You're also very perceptive, as I am not ready for any kind of real attention and would be tickled to death to be able to do what I love, which is write, and make a few bucks, and quietly hide in a corner at the same time. I shrink under close scrutiny. It messes with me, bad. But I am gradually getting better. It seems to me that there are a lot of people that have this affliction. You know as well as I do that when you write, you give away little bits of yourself. You whack away at the walls that just living in general forces you to put up, and eventually you get to where you feel like you're walking around like the Emperor with no clothes. That's the way it is for me anyway, and I suspect you can relate to some degree.

Don, you're right, there is a story. Suffice it to say, that the first time I tried to drive it, I put it in 'go backwards' instead of 'go forwards' and ended up plowing through a row of palmettos and ultimately a barbed wire fence. Fred surprised me by laughing his rear end off (at the expression on my face I suspect) instead of yelling at me which made it worse somehow, and I didn't want to admit at the time that I had no idea where the brake was. Talk about going off half-cocked. Now I go everywhere in first gear only, which drives my son Jake, (who goes everyhwere at a hundred miles an hour), to distraction, but we all most function within our limitatons.

And by the way, has anyone seen Rich? I haven't heard from him in two weeks! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Hi Cindi!!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Here I am!!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Karen and I just got a real live computer of our own!!! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I've been off-line for a while, 'cuz I only had a computer at work. One of the perks of my job WAS that I could use it for personal use, but they're considering pulling the plug on that, so I haven't been on-line. We just got a new Dell with lots of bells and whistles that our farm accountant/farm business advisor said that we had to have for the farm business. We never wanted to spend the money, because we've been buying so much farm equipment. But our advisor said that a computer IS farm equipment, these days!!!

So...I'm back!!! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Good! And he's right. You just about have to have one because everyone expects you to have a web site and of course you have to have a discussion forum or two so I can ...well never mind (grin) heh heh heh

Oh, by the by, did I tell you that goatworld.com is now running my column? Yep, sure enough. Nice guy that Gary. Also familyacres.com and countrylife.net. As Dolly Parton would say in Steel Magnolias "I'm a chain!" Lol!

So....you are going to have a web site, right? Did you get any web publishing software? I'm jealous as can be... I want a new system in the worst way but not any time soon I'm afraid, and this means you'll be able to get on at night! Hoowah!

No, Cindi, no publishing software, yet. But we got expanded hard drive and memory so we can put on lots more stuff. And I'm sure Karen is gonna want publishing software!! We got a couple of Dell business software packages, I don't even know what they are, yet. I'm gonna have to learn how to use them to manage farm costs, equipment inventory and livestock productivity. I think I'm gonna be tied to this computer, doing stuff that isn't even fun. And this is supposed to save me time for more farm work??? Well maybe eventually, when I learn how to use it!! Now if I could find a program to assist my goats during kidding season...THAT would be helpful!!!

It's too bad you don't live around here, we have four more users who can use this system. If you lived closer, you could come over anytime and use it...but I think the trip from Florida to upstate New York is kinda far. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Howdy, Paul!!!

More than one computer!!! Yiles!!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I know you have a few, and I don't know how you did it!!

This computer is pretty basic, and it set me back almost as much as a new milking machine!! And they were running a special for new businesses when I got it!! I compare the price of everything to the price of farm equipment. I just have to keep reminding myself that this thing IS farm equipment!!! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Well, prettymuch just don;t throw anything away. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Othen than parts, I am down to two working computers at home. One is REAL slow, and don;t use it much. Most of the time I use my laptop, and got a REAL good deal on it. Factury reman. and eaven that is about 5 or so years old now. I got to say though, the money it has saved, and just the info I have gotten, that I would have NEVER know eaven exested makes it worth every penny.

Oh.... That and I had the money burning a hole in my pocket, and realy had no use for a milking machine. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
