I've Decided; X300

I got a chuckle when I saw the Craftsman in the background with the Husqy. Both made in the same factory, by Husqy. Husqy looks nice, well built. Did you ever find out what hydro is in the Husqy.

JDGreenGrass,

Congratulations on making a decision. I hope that machine works out well for you. I know Husqvarna has been around a long time with chain saws, though I don't know anything about their lawn machines.

Since you are so fixated on deck longevity, I'm surprised that you favored the Husqvarna welded section construction over JD's hydroformed decks. Also, are those gauge wheels fixed? I don't see any form of height adjustment on them in the photos.

Well, I hope you'll circle back after you've put a few hours on her and let us know your impressions.

Maybe someone who talked me out of buying the x300 could go in and change it for me.??:D

And besides, I don't know how.

He did have to go and make me question my decision to go with the X324 about 3 weeks ago. There's still time to take it back which just makes it worse on me. ;) j/k I'd be drummed out of the family if I bought anything that wasn't green and yellow. That does look like a solid deck but I've had a lot of good experience with JD's so I'm sticking with them until something proves I made a mistake.

Thanks Mark.

I hope no one takes my snide remark too seriously. I really was hopeing to purchase the Green and Yellow. My budget and intuition took me in a different direction.

So far so good with the Husqvarna. Comfortable, great cut, quiet while mowing, heavy blades and excellent turning radius. My only remorse is that I didn't shop around more.

Today I was looking at the Snapper ZT's. Looks to be the same deck as my Husqy. Decks on the Simplicity mowers didn't look great.

Happy holiday everyone.!!

That's funny you mention the simplicity's deck looking sub par. While I was shopping for a garden tractor, I compared the x700 and legacy xl. The legacy is air cooled and about $1800 more. The response was that the simplicity deck and cut quality are sooo much better... I ended up with an old Deere that I could afford without payments.

From the research I did it seems Simplicity has the best cut of any mower. But I wasn't real impressed with how durable it looked either and where I mow I need durable. I bought a JD because they have always served me and I have to say if the Simplicity cuts better it must really be something. I have been very happy with the cut quality from my JD.

The Husqy that I bought cuts nicely however, the machine is heavy with big rear tires (12") and it leaves the dreaded tire marks.

It has been super wet around here for the past month in which the ground is soft. That is contributing to the tire marks and I think the problem will subside if we ever dry out.:confused2:

Side note...local farmers are frustrated with the wet weather. Most got the seed in the ground but nothing is coming up due to the wet and the soil is cold still. Minor flooding has been ongoing for weeks in this area.:confused2:
