Re: I\'ve Got A Dry Bowl !!

Soundguy...that's what I'm saying...The tap, a metal 90 just pushes through a rubber grommet that pushes into the poly-tank. When I pulled the tank, I had to remove the gauge assembly allowing a nice 2" access hole to view the innerds. The tap was right there clear as day...nothing over it.

I guess they figure the bowl and filter are sufficient.

Re: I\'ve Got A Dry Bowl !!

Gosh.. how cheap... I'd think a free floting metal fitting and a rubber grommet might be prone to leak.. especially if a tank vent plugged up.. I much prefer a thread-in tap.. or a bolt on tap.. like ford/NH had been using since 1939 and up. Ironically, the fuel tap on my 1975 ford diesel 5000 and my 2002 NH 7610s are the exact same part number...

Guess NH has saved 3 cents by using the new part? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

And now when you get crud int he tank.. it goes in and directly contaminates the filter vs the safety of biening able to remove the fine mesh on the tap and clean it... go figure... more 'disposable ' mentality in the corporate world..
