Or at least my BX-25 does now.....

It's been a while I know, but it is time for another modification. One that I have thought about a long time, and just recently got the mod bug. So I did it. And really all the parts came to less than $50. I enjoyed it

The welder is my Miller Passport Plus MIG. A really nice welder for this thin metal. Just follow the pics and then the video - it is self explanatory

Nice modification. How hard is it to get the engine shroud off?

Add a snorkel for it; get yourself a wet suit and pair of fins and you can now go under water.

Might want to put a pat-pending on it (tube), before the other orange folks copies that too ! :D ;)

Please do youself a favor and put a strap on it.. I broke my manifold. i used a 2"exhaust Ubend so there wasn't hardly any weight on it.. the vibrations killed it. it looked cool and sounded cool (I gutted the stock muffler) but that was an expensive mistake...

I was wondering the same thing!

Neat. Is that the same sock?
Was thinking the same!
Welcome back mr sock!

Freakingstang- I am sorry to hear about your misfortune. I think - but cannot be sure - since the muffler is already bolted down and the add on pipe should be ok. But You do have a good point- though- I believe the pipe that comes out of muffler will twist and bend first before the manifold pipe breaks.

Also I just realized just now - I think he modded the slip on pipe that is held in via a band clamp so it will "swivel" from force and thus still easy to remove the bonnet. just open hood and loosen clamp on slip on elbow and slide out the whole thing.

tach- that addon part looks suspiciously like the store bought black iron pipe floor stand or whatever you call it from plumbing dept.. Good idea though!

I thought the same thing... The resonance in it will make it bounce. Cast iron is very brittle, where as pipe will have some "give" to it... Just be forewarned....

Wow a lotof replys - TBN is alive !!

1. Yes John, same sock. I bought a 1000 of them when I found my favorites - all I wear.
2. this is all steel, no cast iron. I removed the stock elbow and clamp and welded a flange directly onto the muffler outlet pipe.
3. Adding a bracket with a heavy rubber strap was in the plan, but aside from the startup vibs, it is rather steady. BUT I may add it anyway
4. Before with the stock elbow I was kicking up dust from backdragging my road. this will be no more
5. The piping is 16 gauge 1.5" mandrel bent steel. The flanges are 1/8" steel with a high temp gasket in between. the bolts are 316 SS
6. The paint is 1200F orange

Oh yeah, one more answer - I did not remove anything from the tractor while installing this. - NADA

It really is a very cool, it is a thinkin' outside the proverbial box
idea indeed, but as usual, Freakingstang is on the money w/ his
hard won knowledge on the issue.

I think there are two kinds of guys who run the homemade
snorkle style exhaust, those who have broke parts, and
those who are going to break parts. I do not like the
exhaust discoloring the paint on my FEL either,
it is what it is.

Maybe going down is the answer, maybe w/ a connection at
the cowl w/ easy to remove springs so the cowl can be
removed w/o too much hassle, then strap the downtube
to the frame...

It really is sweet though! Looks awesome! Great Job!
