I still say, for a 2' or 3' rock, just dig the thing out and move on. I wouldn't trust something that small to be the anchor point of a post that large, especially since it's not below the frost line.

Simply drill into the rock and attach some rebar or all thread with epoxy or some sort of adhesive in the hole. Then use the rebar to attach the post. if its wood simply weld a piece of pipe to the pieces of rebar sticking out of the rock and slide the wood post in place and use lags to secure the post. in the pipe.
