I've been using Jack's Professional aka Jack's Classic All Purpose 20-20-20 for many years. You can water virtually all of your garden with this fertilizer! I use it for both outdoor & indoor plants. I've even used it to revive part of my yard that was dying! It can also be used in both soil & soilless mediums. If you are unsure on how much you should use 1/2 of recommended dose is a good start. If your plants start to claw you are feeding them too much. If they start to fade in color you can probably feed them a little more. You can also use this as a foliage spray (use about .25 normal dose). If your plants are turning yellow or fading in color this will brighten them back up again!

The info says it contains 2.1% Nitrate Nitrogen and 17.9% Urea Nitrogen. That suggests that it contains something like KNO3, which would provide an immediately available Nitrogen source, which in turn would give you a very quick green-up. Urea Nitrogen is not readily available, and must be converted in the soil into an available form...great for a slower, long term Nitrogen release. The info also indicates that it contains several trace minerals, which probably never hurts. I put 400# of a similar mix (which also contained iron) on my one acre, and with all the rain, I have to mow about every 4 or 5 days!

I used to use straight Ammonium Nitrate in the Spring, which gave quick growth and green-up and also killed most of the weeds. Ammonium Nitrate isn't readily available here any more unfortunately.

Sure sounds like somebody from Jacks fertilizer is pretending to be a happy customer pushing a product to me. I think I'll stick with my basic 13-13-13 fertilizer that sells for a third of the price from my local supplier over this stuff. Who spends $55 for 25 pounds of fertilizer?

Certainly not me. I think I paid around $20 for a 40# bag...and I'm more comfortable paying about that for a 50# bag...if you can get them any more.

LOL No I'm not affiliated with these guys! lol I was just sharing a product that I've loved for years. They have small options too, I think 4lbs and 10lbs? I hope it helps!
