James Webb Space Telescope begins historic mission

As do I. I took this pic a couple months ago in my CRP field. My house is in the background.

Now we are really seeing the benefit of the heat shields. This morning they are reporting a 378F difference in center temps, hot side to cold side!!!!

Also continuing to slow down. Forward speed of about 60% of what it was a week ago. Initially I was wondering how they were going to get it slowed down to enter orbit. I'm thinking now that it won't require much effort by the time they get there. 60% of the distance covered in 30% of the time.

Then my childish imagination cranks up..... So the "Jetsons" are out for an afternoon cruise. The Webb zooms by. They are all saying "what the hell was that!!!!"

I noticed they had delayed tensioning yesterday but could not find out why, Thanks for the link.
