Hi all, I'm thinking about buying a new tractor (my first) and have been looking at a John Deere 3720 today - it's an ex-demo and is around 」17000 which is about 」7000 off list price.
However, I've been looking at a JCB 360 machine that looks exceptional value for money. It's a 60hp tractor with all the toys I could list and the price is only around 」14000 new! I've heard it's a re-branded TYM tractor.

Has anyone had any experience of the JCB and what is the aftersales like?

The Deere is 37Hp vs nearly double that with the JCB but I know the aftersales will be great from my Deere dealer - they've looked after other equipment very well so far.

Thoughts?

17K is a very good price for a new (demo) 3720. I presume very few hours? I don't know much abouth the JCB of TYM. If you don't need that much HP, I'd go for the Deere.

Thanks for that - the Deere has about 8 hours on it!
I thought it was a good deal, but wasnt sure if the power was enough as I'm looking to pull a Trimax Stealth or a Pegasus in the future for school playing field cutting and know you need a healthy dose of power to pull a machine of that size.

I've just double checked the spec and the jd is about 42hp.

I don't know of the JCB version of the TYM. I was looking at TYM when I first started looking for a tractor. I called the dealer and he said that he was not representing TYM any longer. He said that the tractor was a very good value, but he was having problems with the manufacturer. I assume that was the Korean home office. I don't know if it was warranty work or what. I didn't get any more information than that.

I do know about John Deere and I am pleased to own one. I think that if you are considering TYM, investigate a little further. It well may be an excellent choice.

My dad has had a 3720 for 4 years now and it has been a great tractor. It has a little over 1000 hours ( I put the 1000th one on it :D). The only problems that weve had is the wire to the seat switch had broken in half from corrosion so the tractor wouldnt move. We just put the wire back together and it worked fine. Also, the fuel guage on a few of the 3x20 series tractors will suddenly be stuck in one position but will move to empty when you turn it off. It is the fuel sensor that may go out and after $200 you can get one that works great. Other than that, it has been a great hard working tractor and 17K is a steal compared to the 25K my dad payed for his. I wish you luck with your purchase and we desire pictures when you get the tractor.

Geko, you don't list your location, but I assume you are in the UK? If so, your 17K UK equals around $28K USD for other's reference. As for JCB, they do not have a large presence in the US other than some construction equipment along with a little bit of ag. I wouldn't be surprised if they did not offer a compact tractor in the US. If it is indeed a TYM, you might want to check out the TYM forum on this site for owner opinions.
