JD 110tlb Hydrostatic drive problem

I'm only referring to previous comments that go all the way back to 2002 -- i.e. excess bushing play, etc.

I haven't noticed very many concerns being voiced here since then... and the tranny issues were frustrating but relatively minor in nature.

I looked at Kubota real seriously. Local dealer had a used L39 on the lot. I went over there several times and then went down the road to compare it with a 110 that the local "yellow" dealer has.

My assessment was pretty straightforward --- I put money down on a new 110!

I also got a quote on a new M59. Real impressive lookin' machine! But it's easily $5-7K more than a similarily configured 110.

Don't know what I would have decided if there would have been a L48 around, though...

I have to agree with that.

But, the L48 is even more expensive, and the JD dealer gave me a much better feeling than the Kubota dealer. And, the service has been good.

I bought a new 110 in 2005 and have had the same issue with the transmission going out of gear. It is most likely the seat presence switch, when I lean forward while hooking up forks or bucket it will cut out on me. One of the irritating things on most equipment today. I have the Laurin cab on my unit and I agree with the poster that moving the seat forward may solve the problem for you.

Does the TLB have a seat switch? I have my seat switch jumpered (poorly) and it occasionally loses connection and stops immediately. Could it be so simple?

When I had my 110 the tranny did that ALOT the first few times I ran it and as others have said, the seat switch was the culprit. I ended up jumping it, and no more problems. It really seemed that it was super sensitive and if you were traversing rough terrain your arse would bounce on the seat and trip the switch and stall the transmission, plus the thing was a major PIA when you wanted to stand up when hooking up forks or the bucket. Jump the switch and give her a try and hopefully your issues will be solved.

Hello,

I have had the same problem with my 2007 TLB 110. After reasearching the issue for a while I found out that it was a simple problem in my case. The toggle switch for the backhoe creep mode was sticking in either the forward or reverse position.

Cheers

Hmmm... this is an old thread but you've presented another way the 110TLB tranny could act up. Another thing to consider for us 110 owner's should the pedals not want to work the way they should.

Thanks for the head's up.

I've got around 425 hrs. on my 110 and have been using it for about 18 months with no significant issues -- (knock on forehead)!

I have not had problems with the tranny range selector slipping out of gear: as was mentioned by the previous posters, either. Thankfully....

Besides the seat switch being pretty sensitive (I've had to dial back the seat suspension stiffness) the only time I've had a problem with the pedals going to neutral is when I have accidently stepped on both pedals at the same time. The tractor quits responding and the little orange manual flashes on the console. Let up on the pedal, wait a second and start all over.

I Had to replace the "MFWD speed sensor" (item 53 in the pictogram on the JD site,TRANSAXLE HOUSING AND REAR COVER) a couple of times. The tractor was not getting to a complete stop but is would not pick up speed, it was only crawling.

Had problems with the tractor drive hesitating in all ranges and regardless of forward/ reverse or pedal position. Changed the sensor near the MFWD, and after the tractor warmed up, the problem returned. Put the one I'd removed in place of the engine speed sensor (some 110 tractors use a signal from the alternator, mine uses a sensor) and the problem was solved. I'd done all the normal things, check fluid, jump the seat switch, etc. Just want to thank you folks for posting what you had found. Saved me a paying to have the tractor hauled and then $110.00 per hour for labor. The sensor is available on Amazon Genuine Deere # LVA17409.
