JD 13' disc for my MX5100

Good buy. I'm not familiar with that specific disc. I've used mostly Athens and Taylor Way. It is a unique design with the offset disc. It's hard to find a decent disc like that around here needing a little work for that coin. You're in bigger farm country than I am and can reap the benefits. Looks like it has two wheels off but if you aren't gonna be on the road a lot two is gonna be enough. A lot of those 12' and up disc used 4 wheels and tires. Our old Athens and Taylor way is set up the same. IMHO it will pull easier when you get that gang running. I don't like rocks. Had to pick too many up as a kid.

Correction to make on this disc....

According to the JD manual, it's 11'5" disc. With 8 18" pans per gang on 9" spacing.

It measures 13' because it has what's called a "furrow filler" attachment on the rear. Which is basically just an additional pan clamped another 9" out on the rear gangs, but is a smaller 16" disc. Designed to only fill the furrow caused by the outer pan, and not do much "discing"

Yep, I've saw those on AG discs for years. Didn't even notice it on this one.

Got the bearings installed on the locked up rear gang. Wasn't too hateful. Greased the rest, and judging where grease is coming out and the condition of the seals....I'll be doing more bearings before long. But at $30 each online, it ain't too hateful. Waiting on some dry weather now to really give it a test now that all 4 gangs roll nicely.

Are there no rocks down there. Up here in Massachusetts they are everywhere. I wish there were no rocks especially when I am putting in fence posts. I have a ton you can have.

It's hit or miss down here. I have piles of rocks. And most farmers have more than one rock pile. All the years of picking them up after plowing and discing

LD,
I think you did all right with that disc, I had an 8' 3ph model (JD 100 series level action) bought in 1973 with 20" pans. Did a nice job behind my 3020 diesel. Used it to work over 180 acres of pasture without issues and the results were much better leveling than our prior disc. I would have liked the larger pull type 110 that you have just could not afford it at the time.
