Hello! I have a John Deere 2750 with 146 Loader that has started "drifting" more over the past couple years. Replaced o-rings in control valve but this didn't help. I suspect a new control valve is needed. My tractor has a cab with a joystick handle and cable attachments to the control valve located on the outside mid-right side of tractor (on loader frame). Has anyone changed the CV and found a substitute for the Cessna control valve that came on the 146 originally? I don't want to pay JD prices for a new part on a ~30 y/o tractor?

:welcome:
To TBN JBF5 from Alabama. That sounds a little dangerous. Is it worse when lifting heavy loads?

It could also be the seals in the cylinders.

I agree boom cyl can be cause of boom settling if cyl rod seal is leaking & piston seal is also leaking internally. If boom cylinders are leaking past piston seals how can boom settle if no oil is exiting rod seal? Area for oil is less on rod side than on butt end of lift cyl on a 146. Any 2 spool closed center valve should work.

Would you recommend to run 6 hyd hoses into cab or can the valve you listed be converted to cable controlled?

Don't know for sure.

Would recommend calling Surplus for advice.

The loader works fine. It only moves while "resting."

There is no leaking of cyl seals externally. I swapped the hoses at the valve and the problem moved to the other cylinder- think that makes it a valve problem, right or wrong?

Sounds like you need a new valve.

Ditto on needing new valve.

I would check cable adjustment and make sure it is at center.

Yea, thats what I think. Just wondering if anyone had already tracked down a replacement that works, appreciate any help or knowledge. JBF5

I thought about that possibility also, Leejohn. Thanks

He has already said this.

Do you mean resting as in engine off or engine on when you think the valve spool is in neutral.

So, if the cables were the cause, then the loader would lift of descend on it's own while operating.

It appears he has some leakage.

Just for the heck of it, remove the cables after raising loader and see if it stays up.

When the engine is on or off. While running, I'm constantly having to "re-adjust" to try to keep it at the same position. It's involves one spool only. If I change the hoses from one spool to the other at the control valve- the cylinder controlled by that spool begins to creep and have the same problem. I'm fairly convinced the spool/valve has probably worn out and leaking.
