JD 14T - did I completely kill it?

Just went online to jd parts and the price for the frame is ... Wait for it....$502. Boy howdy! I'm going to go search mighty hard for the piece that broke off that I don't have. I think I'll try the brazing route if I find the piece while I'm still looking for a junk part somewhere. I did see one on eBay but I'd prefer a local piece if possible.

You most certainly didn't kill it and as others have said the frames are interchangeable from a 14t, 24t, and 336. I'm pretty sure they are also interchangeable with NH as well. In finding used parts you may have to buy the whole knotter, they are worth more as a complete unit and unless something is wrong with them people don't want to split them up.

You most certainly can have a plungerhead and needle strike as I have done it. I blew a knotter drive chain on my 24t. The plunger stop did its job, however was bent in the process. When I got it all put back together I failed to see that the plunger stop was bent and couldn't come up through the bottom of the chamber. Needless to say I had another issue and the needles didn't return home, and wham! a whole lot of damage. Plunger came back broke the needles, bent the needle frame, and destroyed the knotters. It was a costly mistake on my part but we got it all put back together and it ran perfectly. I have a 336 now but I check the plunger stop every time I bale now!

Thanks for the input. I still haven't had any luck finding a knotter frame. The thing I saw on eBay wasn't the frame I'm looking for. Unless I'm mistaken, it's the overall frame that holds both knotters. I've checked around all the places I had leads for but no luck this far. I'm still hopeful and looking, though.
