Not sure if this is the right forum for this unit/question but it looks like a ton of experts here so maybe I can find my answer. I have a JD 160 with electric PTO. the engine starts fine and will run for hours with no PTO engaged. but when engaging the pto from a cold start it will run for 2-3 minutes and then begin to chug like it is choking out. shut it off...restart and will run for 45 seconds...again then 30 seconds etc...I have replaced fuel line, fuel, fuel filter, oil, oil filter, checked the float bowl for sediment, changed the plug. checked all wiring for cuts or breaks, checked that blades and pulleys move fine and free...I did have an inline 15A fuse coming off the shingarden regulator that was very very hot..but not blown....with the motor running good at idle or high idle I suspect some type of electrical prob..bad regulator? this is one area where my stupidity will show...lol..
help before I have to mortgage the house to go to a JD dealer..
