my tractor is a JD 2030 GAS MODEL with 148 loader. it has a manual operated gear box, this is not a high-low automatic transmission. it has 2 clutches one to operate the PTO the other to operate the gear box . the rocker arm( 3point) works fine.
now to the problem, with the range lever in the low position and the gear selector in 1st, engine running and clutch engaged the tractor will move with some power, but as it warms up the forward motion stops. there is no power in either low range or high range, with any of the gear positions. the PTO operates when that clutch is engaged without a problem. the clutch to the gear box seems to engage and there is not any problem in selecting the gear or high range or low range. after the tractor is shut of and cooled it move a short distance again then looses power to a stop as it warms up again.
the local JD shop is 40miles away and I will have to truck the tractor there if I can not fix it myself. the things that come to mind are, clutch not fully engaging, a problem from gear box to final drive, is there some hydraulic problem even though this is a manual gear box. could the gears in the box out of adjustment in some way. hydraulic filter has recently been changed. all hydraulics work, loader,3 point, PTO.
I have the operators manual and tech manual but have found nothing that will help.
bottom line can I fix this myself and if so where do I start. thanks Larry Montana
