Recently picked up a '79 JD 2040 that had a welded rim on one side, and a riveted rim on the other.

Currently, the rear wheels are centered OK, and are a hair over 7 wide.

I've got a 6 foot tiller that I want to run on this, but because of the 2 styles of rims, I can't see a way to get a narrower width without having each side a different distance from the centerline of the tractor.

Looking around, I found a decent deal on 2 steel rims (part # AT429861), but before I pull the trigger on these, wondering if anyone can tell me what width I can expect from using these ?

A side difference from the centerline shouldn't hinder operation of the tractor.. but it may not let the tiller cover the tracks.

Can't help with what to expect from different rims. Good luck with that.
