I installed my own loader and did need to add "quite a bit" of oil. I also installed the snowblower and the loader took at least twice as much oil. My guess is that the blower (and quick hitch) took about a quart and the loader took about 2 quarts (but I didn't actually measure). I bought a gallon and I think I have a bout a quart (or maybe slightly more?) left. I cycled ALL the loader cylinders full length several times then added oil and went to work. After using it for about an hour to do some light snow pushing, I had to add another pint or so. So just cycling it a few times doesn't seem to do it.
Just keep an eye on the level glass and make sure you lower the TPH and the loader before you add oil. Also shut the tractor off and wait about 2 minutes before you take a reading. My dealer service man was here the last time I added oil and that was the procedure he recommended. The book says the same except it doesn't mention the short wait for drain down.
BTW - The dealer serviceman was on site to install the block heater. After holding the light for him and watching him work, I'm really glad I didn't tackle it myself! Even HE didn't have a metric wrench big enough to fit the heater and its a really tight spot to work. It only cost me about $52 and it seems that many of you paid almost that much for parts alone. He brought the new govenor cover (or whatever) too but he could see no reason to install it so he chose not to.
