JD 2210 Hydrostatic cooling fan breaking by twig

What kind of guard do you have? Did you make a guard? Or are you referring to the small piece of metal under the blades that does nothing if a stick is going to hit the fan face on? (part #17 in the image.)

Mike, yes I was referring to part number 17 and I have discovered just as the others that when brush hogging the twigs will ruin it. I now have several areas the fan has been rubbed. I am lucky it didn't shatter and I can still run. I will be calling the dealer tomorrow and JD also. This is a crap design and I am really disappointed.

<font color="green">Has anyone looked at what it would take on a 2210 to add a coil and fin transmission cooler? Any ports where there would be a constant flow of hydraulic fluid?

Saturday I was at my JD dealer looking under the hood of a 4115 and noticed the transmission cooler located in front of the radiator and wished my 2210 was set up that way instead of using a fan.

I have already ran into a branch that knocked off a taillight. I suspect a branch on the ground is going to get my fan one of these days. Just my luck.

I dinged the soft skin of the transmission filter by just bumpting it with the mower shaft. Soft soft soft!
