I am trying to decide between a JD 2210 w/mower and box blade and a Kubota BX2200.

Then in following posts says:

Good choice. The Deere 2210 is the better tractor. ....Also, the 2210 is much more stable.

And:

The MF GC2300 is a sharp looking tractor...unfortunately, that is about where it ends.

And:

Just like the New Holland tractors, they lack power.

Sounds to me that Mr. whbutler1 is on a fishing expedition rather than a tractor hunt! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I don't think anyone could have said it any better. Well Said. Ditto

Why you would want an extra 400 lbs. to haul around when mowing is beyond me.

Danny,

Great post. You are right about the JD limited Cat 1 implement. If you look in the spec's it will show that the limited means limited in terms of height and weight. I am not a tractor engineer, but I think it is a couple of inches in height and a couple of hundred pounds in weight.

Kubota has much higher hitch capacity that JD, in most all of their models. I never could quite figure out why, since some models boast a hitch capacity of 3400 lbs (I think it is in the L series Cat 2 models). The implements out there don't weight that much, at least anything less than a bat-wing mower. Seems like a waste of cylinder/tractor size component cost.

Sharp eye Danny! Thanks for the post.

Cecil,

Here are the specs. Lift capacity (24 in behind the lift links) 700 lbs. Don't know the limitation of the lift height. However, the 3-point hitch is designed to Cat 1 standards so you can fit Cat 1 implements as long as they are designed to standard. I was surprised by the number of short liners whose cat 1 implements dimensions were not designed to Cat 1 standards.

I was talking to a neighbor of mine and his dad, and his dad was having all kinds of difficulties changing implements. He told me he went to his dealer and got a quick-hitch attachment and now he can change implements quickly, but the implements have to be designed to a consistent spec like category 1.

He told me both Deere and Kubota offer quick-hitch systems.

Thanks for the post.

I admire you sticking to your color. Sometimes that all it comes down to.

Still, many companies have invented the category and are no longer around, just look at the computer industry...Apple practically disappeared after inventing the computer operating system. They are back in certain niche markets but theirs was the first and the best, they just could not support it.

Kind of like Deere and their dealer network. The biggest and the best. How many tractor companies that were around in the 1960's still exist in their original form (with no consolidations or buyouts?). Only Deere. It is reassuring to do business with a company this has been in business almost 170 year.

Makes me wonder about buying a KIA also.

Thanks for the post. Your opinion is appreciated.

Interesting.

A fishing expedition? I just can't see why anyone would buy anything but the JD 2210. Is it price? The two (JD and Kubota) appear to be priced the same (see previous posts), but Kubota won't post any prices on their website. Show me the prices so I can decide for myself. I just don't like getting jerked around by unscrupulous sales people who care more about their salespersons bonus than my welfare!

And, have you even driven the GC? Put a Kubota in a loader pile and tried to move dirt around?

Thanks for you post. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

It was the stability in the loader pile with the mower attached vs the Kubota that really stood out for me.

Why 400 lbs? I guess because it can.

Thanks for the post.

Oh, that's good one. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Apple invented the computer operating system! That is truely funny. I'm thinking this statement is meant to be ironic rather than just hoplessly wrong, but I don't get the joke beyond the simple absurdity of the statement.

Your dealer is likly pricing the BX high to make you choose between the two. It should be $1000-1200 less than the 2210 in most markets.

Also, the prices on Deeres website site are list, not retail. They are worthless guidelines.

The 2210 is a fine tractor and very compriable to the Kubota. I do think its a bit over priced. Same goes for the New Holland TZ.
