What size rear grader blade is recommended for the JD 2210? Any official word on this from John Deere?

What size have some of you purchased and used with this tractor or a comparable sized CUT?

I ordered the Midwest RB22-60, a five foot blade, but now I am thinking maybe I should have gone with a six foot blade instead. I might be able to change my order if I do it quickly. My concern was a six foot blade would have bogged down the tractor too much. I used a seven foot blade with the Allis Chalmers WD I once owned but there is a lot of difference between that old tractor and my new one.

I have a 475 foot driveway to maintain and need to handle some minor earth moving to take care of changing the grade around my garage to move rainwater into a swale and away from the building. I also need to change the pitch of a dirt path through part of my woods to control erosion.

I don't know if this is an official "JD" recommendation, but my dealer suggested a 5 ft blade for my 2210. He thought a 6 footer would be a little much for the tractor. The tractor itself is only 47" wide, that leaves 6" per side with a 5-footer or about a foot per side with the 6 footer. For only light grading or 3-6 inches of snow the 6 footer is probably fine but with heavy grading/snow I think you would find yourself needing a lot of ballast and possibly more power to keep the machine moving foward in a straight line. I DO have a 5 footer on order but it has not arrived yet.

The 2210 is about the same size as my BX, and I found that a 5' blade works quite a bit better than a 6. With the larger blade you'll find that when cutting into banks it'll move your tractor sideways in a hurry unless you put a LOT of wheel weight on...
