John Deere 2305 (2010)
Somebody may have discussed this topic before but I couldn't find anything. I have ran regular gas station diesel in my 2305 since new. Last week I was in my diesel camper and the station had off road diesel 50 cents per gallon cheaper. I googled it and found its due to not paying the road tax,( putting in the camper would be tax evasion ). With all that said, I'm curious if its okay to run off road fuel in my 2305 ? , and if so, do I need to add any additives. Thoughts ?

It's reportedly the same fuel with different dye. The additives are probably very similar. I run off-road from time to time in my 2210, whenever it's convenient to get out to that provider (it's 10 miles in the wrong direction). The engine doesn't really know the difference. As for additives, it never hurts to use something during the cold season to boost your immunity to gelling/etc. I add about a pint of Kerosene to 5 gallons, plus Power Service additive (white bottle). Have never had gel up happen to me. Others do very well with Howes.

The off road is the same fuel as on road. Just dyed red ... Only exception is off-road fuel from small refineries and marine fuel at 500 ppm of sulfer. After 12/31/14 ALL diesel fuel in the USA is ULSD.

Check the EPA website for your self

The road tax is the difference.
As for the gelling and that, unless it gets really super cold in an area, most diesel fuels will stay liquid. Didn't used to be this way though.

Every other tank I use the Lucas fuel additive just to put some lube in for the pump. Other than that, let her run!

I think a label is/was attached near the fuel cap on 2305's advising to use ULSD. I would insure the "Off Road" met that criteria before adding it to the tank.
