John Deere 2305
Hello,
I am new here and I need some insight; I recently purchased a jd2305 and I can't get it to run for more then a few minutes. It doesn't matter whether the deck is engaged or not, or if it is even in gear -the tractor will run properly until it drops power, starts to shake and finally stalls out; usually within about 10 seconds after it starts to shake. During these episodes the throttle position has no effect on the engine and it usually is very rough to start immediately after. After it works itself out it runs properly for a few minutes until it happens again. I have gone from the tank all the way to the fuel transfer pump and found all lines to be clear, there was a small amount of water in the fuel tank and also traces of brown, muddy looking stuff in the bottom of the tank. The fuel shutoff solenoid is working properly and all vent lines are clear and operating properly. The point i am at now is to once again look at the fuel transfer pump to see how it performs during cranking in the midst of one of these stalling episodes by pulling the output line and looking for fuel flow. Any help or direction that anyone could provide on this would be greatly appreciated!

Have you changed the fuel filter yet? If not, I would do that next even if it looks good... In most cases, fuel filters are cheaper than the time to do the troubleshooting needed to rule them out.

Forgot to mention that part,
The two air filters and fuel filter are brand new.
Thanks though.

Sounds like the fuel system is sucking air which eventually starves the engine and it dies.

That possibility was brought up to me by someone that I ran across on another forum. His belief is that it may be the transfer pump failing and leaking fuel back into the case - the oil level on the dipstick is nearly an inch over full. He believes that this would then also cause air to be introduced into the fuel line just past the transfer pump.

:cool2::cool2: Full power is back!, clean tank, new filter, some lucas fuel treatment and some new diesel did the trick; Thanks for the help guys!

I'm having a similar problem with Kubota B7610 HST. Have changed air and fuel filters. Did you change another filter? How did you clean tank?
It runs fine at idle. Starts to stall as I engage HST transmission, forward or reverse, especially if uphill. Does this for a while, then seems to get better for a short while, then starts doing it again. If it stalls, it starts right up with no difficulty. Even worked fine with rototiller engaged during one of it's "I'm OK" times.

keevan,
My fuel filter was the only filter that i changed;tank cleaning was done by emptying at the filter cup and swabbing with a rag taped to the end of a 24" pinpoint air nozzle extension through the fill cap, then flushing out with some scrap fuel (yielded some sediment)- have you looked into the seat switch or other safety switches yet?, the major difference that I see with your problem is the full power restart after stalling- mine would stutter for about 10 seconds after restart due to the fuel starvation from the dirty filter. locate your fuel shut-off solenoid and check to see that it is in the proper position at the time of stalling (with the key still in "on/run"); if it is not- check your seat switch and then see if you can find an electrical schematic for your model and locate any other safety switches that affect the operation of the fuel shut-off solenoid.

My whole process is broken down here:

I am not familiar with kubota products, but I would not imagine that it would be all that much different.

This thread may also be of interest to you- the model is the same as yours - posted # was a typo:

Good luck; let me know what you come up with.
