JD-2350 farm utility tractor 3-pt drop rate

Hi, so I’m fairly new to tractors and have a question for you folks. Not too sure on terminology, but there is a turn-type lever under the seat that I guess regulates the rate of drop for 3- pt. Implements. With a 6’ box-blade, the rate of drop is very slow on mine, which causes problems when box-blading. I tried to fix it and made it worse. It seems that the lever is only engaging clockwise. So when I turned it to check it out, it went in, which made the drop slower yet and it won’t engage anything in the opposite direction to release the pressure and increase the rate of drop. It just spins. Have any of you guys experienced something like this? If so, how big of a job would it be to fix that? Thanks in advance. This forum has helped me several times already.

Is the shaft, or just the handle spinning counter clockwise? Counter clockwise would increase drop rate.

Edit- increase drop rate could be read either way. Make it drop faster is a little clearer....

CCW turning of grip(key 11) should loosen set screw(key 9) unless grip is spinning on set screw releasing pressure on ball(key 12). I suggest to remove grip to visually inspect set screw to determine if it is actually turning CCW..

The whole shaft spins counterclockwise. Yes, if that engaged with something I think it should make the 3-pt drop faster. I’m not seeing the little lever that I would turn in the diagram you sent. Is there a way to open something to look and see how to re-connect the shaft to something so it would be engaged? Do you know what that mechanism is called?

I have the operator’s manual, but it really doesn’t help in diagnosing the problem. Only says what the lever is for. I don’t have a technical manual

Can not you remove the screw holding the grip/knob(key 11) on the shaft(key 9) then remove the grip from the shaft then with the aid of pliers turn shaft CCW to release ball?

I’ll check that out, but it’ll have to be over the weekend when it warms up a bit. It’s in the low 20s here and barn isn’t heated. It’s gonna warm up a bit this weekend. Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll let you know how it goes.
