All 2440's prior to serial number 341,000 had brake band with independent pto. 341,000 and up could have had either, depending on configuration as TxJim mentioned.

Is this the serial number, 341,00 up, when the syncro trans was first available?

IIRC TSS(synchronizer) trans wasn't offered until 50 series utility tractors.

I was thinking late 2X40 series, but not sure.

I didn't locate any synchronizers in drive train section in late model 2440 parts catalog BUT it's possible I overlooked them.

OK, I did some parts catalog looking too. Late 2040 & 2240 had syncro transmission option. Late 2440 & 2640 did NOT have syncro shift transmission.

I'd like to replace the 2030, mainly to get away from the collar shift transmission. So 2440 is out, 2640 is bigger than I need/want, but also out.

It's odd that the smaller tractors of same era had synchronizer trans but the next size larger ones didn't. I guess you'll have to step up to a 50/55 series You would love a 2355 or 2555 that have the gearshift levers moved forward from trans hump.
