Tractor
still looking
hello, My wife and I recently purchased 6 acres. So now I'm tractor shopping. I am planning on making a small motorcross track(8-12 jumps), grading a 350' driveway, brushogin 3 acres couple times a year, grading the yard, whatever else comes up. My question is Will the 2520 be big and heavy enough to complete these projects or would I be better off with the 3120? I think the 2520 will be fine to maintain everything once I'm done but I'm not sure if it'll be enough to get everything done.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

I think your uses sound like a 3320 to me. Gets you over 30HP for minimal $$ more than a 3120, gets you into a 300CX loader, Gets you into at least a MX5 and maybe MX6 bushog, gives you enough weight to handle the big loader and grader work you have planned ahead. After seeing the 2520 in person there is no way for the difference in cost I would trade for it! Not sure where you live but I know the 72" snow plow I have on my loader is godsent (actually John sent) but as far as big enough at the end of the day I am always glad I did not buy smaller. I mow a ton with my 7-iron MMM and loading dirt with the 3320 is a dream - all tasks you will love to do with your new purchase. Also it costs a ton to upgrade in the future /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Mike makes some good points. I was quoted only an extra $1000 bucks to go from the 3120 to the 3320. It's going to be hard to sell 3120's I would say. I have a 2520 and love it to death. I would like a 3320 or 3520 but I couldn't justify the extra cost for what I need. Also would have to replace my brand new trailer to handle the extra 1000 lbs of the 3320.

2520 3120 3320

Hp 26.5 29.5 32.5
pto hp 20 22 25.5
torque 40.3 55.6 61.6
hydraulics 10.5 gpm 13.9 13.9

Just a few basic stats to help ya. Just got to decide what you can afford. I don't think you would be un-happy with the 2520 it is very capable machine and a great mower. That being said go for the 3320 if you can! Sounds like a nice match for your property if it's a nice match for your wallet!!

Good luck!

Does the land have many trees or obstacles? Will you use the tractor to maintain your lawn?

A 2520 will do the tasks you've mentioned with ease. A bigger tractor will move the dirt a little faster and potentially let you use a larger (1' larger) or same size heavier duty (MX) rotary cutter.

To me the larger 3?20 series wasn't worth the extra weight and lost maneuverability, your mileage may vary.

Can't go wrong with any of your choices. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Moved 22 yards of topsoil for my brother in about 30 minutes the 2520 did not even break a sweat ,if you need to have a backhoe though i think you should go with 3320 so you dont end up with somthing thats to much like a toy
