JD 2555 stuck in low range

Early 1990's JD 2555 and it became stuck in low range today after like a million shifts. Imagine that! I have two handles. Left between legs is range and reverse changer and right between legs is the 1 thru 4 handle.
The left goes back and into housing through a boot.

Does if feel like it is in a bind. Like it will not wiggle at all. I am sure you have tried the rocking and everything?

Yes we rocked it. It does feel like a bind. Share with me your rocking directions.
Boy it has worked like a champ for years.
New operator on it for 5 minutes and bam it gets hung up.

Pat if the "forks" or what ever yours has is truly wedged in a bind that is not good.

If you can use the tractor in low range for a while it might get out of the bind. I take it you can shift through the gears OK but not change into high range.

New operators can do this to equipment and the reason I drive our old stuff.

Can you pull the top plate/cover and get to the shifter parts?
