Will the seat tip up or is it bolted down?

Is this the dipstick (key #25) under the seat?

I couldnt pull out the dip stick as its way in, under the seat. Will have to fabricate a wire hanger pull. Wondering if pushing it back will be just as painful.
Which engineer decided to locate it in that horrible spot...

Yes, JD gets the goofy engineering award for the location of that dip stick. It's no wonder they don't mention it in the Owner's manual. I have a set of "Lady's Foot" pry bars and I use the larger one to reach down in and pull out the dip stick by its handle. Be aware that it has a tendency for the rubber plug to get stuck if it hasn't been pulled out in the while. Even when next to impossible to pull out it goes back in quite easily. Put a little white lithium grease on the rubber before re-inserting and it will come out much easier next time.

Yes, that's it. Yes, the seat tips up but that doesn't help much as the dip stick handle is under the seat beneath the plastic covers. The best way to reach it is with a hook or sorts and reach down beside the transmission range selector lever.

Looks like oil level is fine on my tractor, just doesnt have the dye. As for putting the stick back in I had to use a vise grip to shove it back in.
