3005=990?? Correct??

I have been trying to decide between the 3032E and the 3005, myself. I've had a chance to drive both. They both seem to be solid machines with a couple of fairly big differences.

The 3032E is a Hydro, while the 3005 is gear driven.

The 3005 can have a mid PTO, the 3032E can not.

The 3032E has a loader which is NOT a quick-park, but the bucket can be removed of course. Also, the loader control is mounted to the right loader mast, not beside the seat.

The 3032E is a more comfortable tractor than the 3005. The operator's platform is much roomier than the 3005. Much easier to get on and off without the gear transmission hump.

I have asked a couple of dealers their opinions on the 3032E, and both of them sited the non-removable loader as a reason they did not favor those.

Both machines are smooth running tractors and handle very well. As I siad before, they both seem quite solid.

In my case, the vast majority of my tractor work is with a bush hog. The property is 40 acres with many nice field areas. The hydro would be nice for that, but do I want the loader on all the time while doing that?

If I were going to use the loader a lot more, the 3032E would make more sense, since I understand that a hydro makes loader work easier, as well.

To sum it up, I think Deere would have had a great addition to their line-up IF they had put a 300 loader on this machine instead of the 305. As it stands, all they did was muddy the water for me, making my decision much more difficult.

By the way, the quotes I am looking at are 15,100 for the 3005, and 15,500 for the 3032E. The closeness of the prices makes it even more difficult a decision.

Hope all that rambling helped you, at least a little.

A couple other differences between the 3005 (a.k.a. 790) and the 3032E that haven't been mentioned yet:

The 3005 PTO is not independent, but the 3032E PTO is. On the 3005 the PTO operates off the clutch pedal via a two stage clutch. On the 3032E it is like the premium 3X20, 4X20 tractors with an electrically actuated switch.

The 3005 has left and right turning brakes. The 3032E has a single brake pedal that operates both brakes simultaneously.

The 3032E does not come with cruise control standard, so if you go that route, I would suggest you consider ordering the cruise control kit with it. It will keep you leg from getting tired while mowing that 40 acres.

Oh, I've thought about that, alright.

Geez, I'm sorry Robbie. I feel like I've hijacked your thread. Didn't intend to.

That's cool Tom. I like reading what everybody has to say. I never thought about cruise control either. I don't have 40 acres but will help my neighbor cut a game preserve area, so it may come in handy.

We have cruise control on our NH TC30. I've spent 6 straight hours cutting grass and never once put the cruise on. That said, I've never put it on while spending an hour cutting either.

Actually I grew up driving MF35, MF135 and a Ford 3500, oh and a Farmall cub. None of them had cruise control. You could let go of the throttle and unless it crept back, I guess you could consider that cruise control.:) Anyway, as small as my lot is I don't think it's an option I would need or want.

Nice. I learned to drive standard on our MF 35. Our 1523 has cruise, have not used it too much tho'. But, it is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it!! :)

So Robbie, any closer to making a decision?

I've put a stop to my searching for a couple of days. Too darn cold to mess with it.
