Tractor
2015
I'm about at the end of my research and believe i have found my tractor after four months. Its a 2008 3320 with all the bells and whistles with 310 hours for $17k (quick hitch and 72" box blade).

Im trying to make myself commit as there is a heck of a deal on a brand new Kubota L3901 at a local dealer. The jd 3320 is heavier but less power.

Does anyone have any advice on the jd3320? Ill be using the tractor to maintain my 12 acre home and putting in foodplots with a 58 inch tiller.

Any helpful advice out there as to the 3320?

I feel that the 3320 is the perfect size and HP tractor. Had the older 4310 which is pretty much identical. Debated a long time between the 3320/3520 before purchasing my 4120. For my tasks I felt the 4000 series fit my needs better initially, but feel the 3320 would do everything just fine.

Its a model that has been around a while, and seems to have held up well. The only common issue that come to mind are the front axle seals have a tendency to leak if you're working in wet, silty or fine sandy areas. The 300 loaders had weak bolts attaching the masts when they first came out that sheared heads. Most common complaint is 'feels tippy' and it is tall for the footprint, so dishing out wheels and loading tires is common--some even have put hub extensions on to get more width. Great tractors.

I sold my 3320 last year after many years of faithful service. It is about the perfect power to weight machine in the line(imo). I never ran out of power before loosing traction. The tippy feeling is unfounded as I live on a hill and had that machine tilted constantly. I performed all the maintenance on the machine myself but did not baby it in anyway. The 3320 did everything I asked of it and then some. Highly recommend!

I had a 3320 and it was a great tractor, very reliable. Working in some hilly terrain in western North Carolina I eventually found I wanted more horsepower and traded for a 3720. Big difference in PTO and overall pulling power, the hydro transmission needs the extra HP to get up the hills and turn a 72" mower. I also spaced out the wheels. If you could find a 3720 for a little more, I don't think you would regret it. I didn't intend to complicate your decision but Knowing what I know now, the 3720 is the way to go in the 3000 series. Not sure how much it will stretch your budget, I would guess 3-4k more than the 3320.

My 2008 3320 has been nearly perfect for its 500 plus hrs. Only issue was the adjustable steering wheel was slipping out of position when I pulled on it to get out of the seat, it was fixed under warranty early on. Hasn't been to the dealer for any service or warranty work since then. Very easy for me to maintain and doesn't leak or use any fluids.

I use mine on side slopes and in the woods with the wheels at their narrowest position and though it may feel tippy at first it really isn't. Have only had it on 3 wheels once on a side slope with a heavy bucket of dirt up to high. Scary but once the front axle hit its stops it didn't go over any further, operator error.

Hiya,

I have a 2010 3320 Cab, does everything I ask, no complaints. I live on a mountain, have my turfs set to narrow, it does to go up on 3 wheels on a side slope if I'm foolish so just respect the laws of physics and you'll be fine.

I own a 2006 JD3320 with about 450 hours on the clock. I bought mine used with 200 hours on it. I don't know of a better tractor for the money for my purposes, and have been happy with the performance. In light of current prices.....that price seems quite reasonable if you have a good "candidate".

More power could be useful with some implements - those where high PTO HP is required. I don't have a shortage of HP with most implements that are properly sized to the power here. The EHydro makes HP to ground speed very efficient. The only place I would like more PTO HP is with my stump grinder.....but then I'd likely break stuff. ;)

The JD 20 series is the premium line, like the Kubota Grands (old 40 or new tier 4 60 series).

If you are comparing the Kubota L3901 against JD it matches the 3038e.

I have Kubota L3200 (same as the L3901 minus about 6hp & the tier 4 emissions stuff). Very good tractor. I compared Kubota vs JD before buying & found Kubota better in several areas on the economy machines. If I ever get around to upgrading to a premium one with a cab I'll be comparing again as I think JD fares better on the premium models.
