I just ordered a JD 3320 ehydro with 300cx loader and 448 backhoe. Was wondering if anyone has the same equipment and could offer some reviews on performance. One of the things I'm looking to do is clear some land with it, an area maybe 300 feet by 150 feet with trees that range from 4 inches in diameter to 18 inched in diameter. After cutting down the trees I'm hoping to be able to dig out the stumps with the backhoe. Any information would be appreciated.

When possible, I cut the roots of the tree with the backhoe, letting the weight of the tree pull the rootball out of the ground. Just don't pull the tree onto yourself... Or so I hear /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hmmm, do you cut them on the near and/or uphill side first?

I have the 3720 with the same setup. I just cleared a similar size area of trees. I find it quicker and easier to push the tree over and the falling weight lifts 1/2 the roots out of the ground. I then use the loader to finish removing the tree from the ground. It all depends on what type tree. Pines are easy and I can easily push over 18" diameter pines. If I can't push the tree over I will dig some of the roots with the 448 and then push over the entire tree. Using the weight of the falling tree is a real time saver and no need for a power saw.
Hope this helps. Shooter

Brandon,

just added a post that trails on to your question.(changed the subject line a bit to try to draw specific BH users). Maybe we can raise some responses in one or both places that will help us.

I have the same equipment and love the setup. I have not done stumping yet (will be soon)- I have used the backhoe allot to dig various trenches and dry wells. I have been impressed with the size of the rocks I have been able to remove. I have dug a hole
13 ft x 12 ft to a depth of about 5.5 feet. I have moved many truckloads of stone and gravel with the loader and find it more than capable. Enjoy

Here's a pic of a 3320/300cx/447 backhoe to look at while you wait for yours to come in.
