JD 3320 Hood Misalignment

I recently purchased a 2007 JD 3020 w/300cx FEL from a private party. I am still in the process of getting familiar with the tractor. The hood on this tractor is misaligned by approximately 1/8" vertically in relation to the housing which contains the dash components. It is most obvious by observing the side decals on the hood. In looking at various online photos of other tractors in this series, it appears that this is a common problem. Does anyone know if the rear hinge mounting of the hood is adjustable, either by shims or some other manner to correct this misalignment? Admittedly, it is only a cosmetic problem but one that I would like to correct.

I am a new member to TBN and am enjoying this site very much, especially the additions and modifications various members have added to their tractors and are sharing through the photos.

I spent most of the winter pondering the purchase of a compact tractor and wish that I had known of this site earlier. However, I am pleased with my choice of a tractor at this time. I will know more when I put it to work in the next few weeks.

Hi Ordite,

When you have the hood up, take a look at the hinge... only 2 bolts holding the hood onto the bracket..... if the alignment bugs you that would be the place to put some washers or a plate to make up the difference you see.

Don't recall those bolts had a heckuva lot of "bite" holding it on there, so if you give some of it up, you may want to get a bolt longer by the shim you put on... think it is aluminum it goes into.

You can do it by yourself--I am 6'3" and it was all I could do to be leaned over attempting to start blind bolts at arm's length... an extra set of hands/eyes would make that 4 minute job a 15 second one!
