Does anyone have a schematic for the ignition? I'm not sure if I hooked the new one up correctly. It starts but the glow plug light doesn't come on. Does that mean the plugs aren't working? The dealer told me they sent the right ignition, but there isn't a glow plug position on the new switch like there was on the old one.

On my 3320 you push IN on the key to get the intake heater to operate. The 3320 is direct injected and does not need or have glow plugs. Once you push in on the key it should light the heater icon. good luck :)

I think I have all the wires in the right place now. This may be a stupid question, is the curly light the heater you're talking about? That was the light for the glow plugs on every other diesel vehicle I've had. How many positions does your switch have? The one JD sent me only has 4 but the markings on the plastic around the switch show 5 positions. Maybe I'm just thinking about it too much. I've kind of inherited this tractor and don't really know that much about it. Thanks for you help!

Yep, that same curly light is now for the Intake Air Heater...Glow Plugs are for old school engines. As far as operation, same basic theory as glow plugs.

The 5th Position is when you push & hold the key IN....

Hey, dont feel bad, they are all valid questions. Better to ask then wish you had... I'd suggest you thumb thru the owners manual.

I do not know about all JD 3320s, but on my 2006 model. I insert the key into the switch (the key straight up and down), turn the key clockwise till you feel the bump, hear the fuel pump (I guess that is what that is) and solenoids, and see the dash lights come on. I allow the computer to do its self check of the systems (takes about three seconds). From that point you can either continue to turn the key clockwise until the starter engages and the unit starts, or you can press in on the key, the curly symbol on the dash lights, hold for 10 seconds or so and then turn the key clockwise till the starter engages and the tractor starts.

I know nothing about marks on the switch or five positions. Mine may have them but I use one to insert the key, two to turn on the electrics, and three to start the tractor. When I release the key it goes back to position two. All this is done mostly by feel, not by what the symbols say.

This is from the OM.....

A-Start Position - Turn the key to the start position to start the engine. Release the key after the engine has started and it will automatically return to the run position. The engine will continue to run.

B-Run Position - With the key in the run position, and the engine not running, the engine oil pressure light should flash and the battery charging light should illuminate. Both lights should turn off when the engine is running. You will also hear a clicking noise when the engine fuel shut-off solenoid engages. With the key in the run position, push the key in to activate the air intake heater system.

C-Off Position - With the key in the off position, all switched power is off, and the engine should not run.

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! There is an accessory key switch position
(D) to the left of the key switch off position. Do not move the key switch
to this position. The battery could be drained.

Did you get your question answered? Some good answers, but wondering if you are now up and running with the right connections to the switch.

It seems to be running just fine beenthere. The old switch wasn't the one that's supposed to be on it, and the new one is from the dealer. I had an extra wire so I plugged it to the aid slot. I think that fixed the problem. I just took all the old wires off one at a time and put them on the new switch. Seems ok, I was just hoping somone had a schematic of what wires go where on the back of the ignition so I could check myself. I guess I need to pony up and get a manual, not sure where my Dad put the one that came with it.

I thought I would be able to understand a diagram, I was wrong! Did I plug the green wire into the correct place? Well, I guess I should just ask where I should plug the green wire. Thanks for everyone's help!

I went threw every schematic and never found a wire connected to "aid". Perhaps this will help.
