JD 380A Hydraulic Front Blade...Good Deal??

I found a used JD 380A hydraulic front blade is for sale. The blade is 60" long. The unit is a year or two old, but looks almost new. The seller wants $1000. He said they sell for around $2400 new.

Name brands can be pricey in the first place, so even a big discount may not be a great deal.

What do you think? Is it a good product? I don't know anything about this model, other than that it is a JD. Is the asking price a good value or not? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Here's a link to it a Midlawns dot com. They want $2100 new (also says for JD 790, will it mount to yours?). Looks like price is worth it IMHO.

No, it won't. Well, not directly anyway. I plan to visit in a couple days and will bring my tractor along. Sometimes the modifications are doable (is that a word?). If the consensus is favorable on the value, I will be willing to work to make it work.

A couple years ago I got a good deal on an 8A backhoe. It doesn't fit my tractor either. But, the "adjustments" were made and it fits beautifully now.

If the required changes aren't something I can handle, I'll pass on the purchase.

Went back, with tractor, to check out refitting possibilities. Looks like the two front brackets will work w/o any changes. The two rear brackets will need some cut, weld and drill work, but it looks possible. After pleading my case, (ie only plan to use it for snow removal once or twice a year, so can't pay too much), the price dropped to $800. I bit on that.

I hope to get the brackets refitted soon, even though the chance of significant snow is getting pretty slim at this point.

Having a little bit of work to do to get it to mount will make it that much more fun, especially when your done and can take pride in your accomplishment. Good luck and have fun.
