My first ever thread! My JD 400 has a CAV distributor type injector pump which I dismantled because of a lack of power, as it had sat for some time in the past with water in it, but still ran. When apart (and this is a simple job, contrary to what I was led to believe] I found that the governor weights were binding with rust in their frame and also the pumping and distributing rotor shoes and rollers were locked above the plungers and the rollers had worn a flat spot. I purchased a new shoe and roller kit and cleaned up all the rust and corrosion with a new seal and gasket kit and re-assembled without altering the mixture setting, but now it starts OK but goes to maximum revs and won't slow down or shut off, so I stop it by blocking the air intake.
I've taken the top cover off and relocated the governor spring one hole tighter and checked that the shut off bar connects with the metering valve but still no joy. The metering valve is worn in the hydraulic head but previous to dismantling the motor would accelerate and decelerate as expected, just no power(originally low first gear needed to move from rest!). Does any more experienced person out there have any suggestions as to what may be my problem, as I'd be most grateful for any clues?
