JD 425 oil change info & parts

I am curious as to how many hours are on it since the oil change. Generally it is 100 hours or yearly as a guide.

The Manual says every 200. So I may not be that over due. But I'll change the engine oil and get myself set up for trans oil shortly after.

I just bought a 425 myself and a helpful member here (exeter27) informed me that JD changed the yellow decal to the more yellow design the year they switched from the plastic cam gear the steel version. Based on this, the OP's 425 does have the plastic cam gear.

I think when I bought it I did a little research and I figured it out to be either '93 or '94. I think that meant the plastic cam. Is that on the trans side or the engine side?

JD 425 oil change info & parts

So I have the 21st 425 I guess? Amount of hours in this is unknown the lights and hour meter where not working when I bought it. And they still don’t work. I ordered all the trans filters and fluids and I have a warm place to work. I want to bang out both oil changes within the next few weeks. Thanks for you help and advise everyone.

Btw when the cam gear goes what is the symptom?

i warmed up my
Tractor today by snow blowing the recent storm. then I changed my oil and oil filter!! I can’t believe how easy it was, that valve makes it so clean and easy. I did make a little mess with the oil filter but it was an easy clean up. Now that I see how easy it is I’ll do it every season. I just did my Ski nautique for only its third oil change since I’ve owned it for 15 years, so this is going to be the new me!
