Seriously, worst comes to worst, you can add an electric circulation pump and an aftermarket radiator for about the same price as new Deere parts.

I'm sure there are ways to work around the issue....but adding an electric pump and different radiator would involve a lot of research and adapting.

I can't afford to have the machine down for that long.
Interesting idea, though...

Also, an earlier post is correct: The 430 pumps I've seen on Ebay
are for the tractor-tractor...not the lawn tractor. I'm a long-time
Ebay member and use it often.

I may be looking at the wrong water pump but jdparts lists a AM875562 for the 430 L/G tractor. I also noticed that the seals and bearings are available for a rebuild 'if' you need to overhaul your current pump.

if it's available. I'll check on a rebuild kit at a local dealer.
I like the machine, but I don't think it was wise to get
a 23 year-old tractor.....time will tell!

I believe a good radiator shop can rebuild like new an old core for less money than a new radiator. --Fuseboxer

JD the 430 doesn't sound like the right machine for you but as you can see there will be plenty of guys who would like to have it. It is a pretty desirable machine. If you can make the stretch to a new machine a lot of your worries will be gone.

I really like the 430...it is a tank...always wanted one.
I had a 318 for 20 years, but was getting a bit long-in-the-tooth...

I'm looking at a X740 series now. I might keep the 430 a while
to give me time to do more research.

One thing I miss is the rear bagger....can't find one in decent shape
for the 430.

The 430 is a very nice machine, but if you can't get parts...it's
scrap metal.

I have one of these, bought it used, sort of came with the place.
If the hour meter is to be believed - it has 3500+ hours on it.
Runs great - needed a water pump at the time, had it fixed.

Used to overheat, but I fixed that by mounting and overflow reservoir in front of the radiator (fits inside the grille), no issue there anymore.

I'd keep what you have!

Thanks for the suggestion. Still have the 430, but wish I could
get a bagger or it, which I really need.

In the Spring, I'll probably sell it and look for a newer model;
x720-x748 or something similar.....
